I'm going to be in Berlin for about 10 days, March 14-23, meeting up with friends and hopefully taking some decent pictures. I've been watching some Berlin-related movies, hoping for inspiration, including Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire), Goodbye Lenin, Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) and Christiane F - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo.
Anyone interested in meeting for a beer and photography related chitchat? I can meet anytime from March 14-18.

sorry I am fixed in south-west germany in the moment . Otherwise a beer/coffee would be nice.
In Berlin I like Cafe Einstein Stammhaus [Kurfürstenstraße 58] (not the dependance)- it is off the touristic pathway in a old historic villa
http://www.cafeeinstein.com/
But I don´t dare to recommend it because at the Berlin RFF Meeting it was reconstructed which I didn´t t noticed before (i am living off Berlin - and I am only one time (one or twa days) a month in Berlin and Potsdam )

Hackesche Höfe is nice, there's a cinema-themed cafe right in front, you'll recognize it right away. It's on the corner Oranienburger / Rosenthaler. Than there's Cucuma in Kreuzberg, St Oberholz at the Rosenthaler Platz. You might want to go there if you need a wifi hotspot and make sure to order the 'Milchmädchen Kaffee', it's layered and pretty amazing.
What kind of restaurants are you looking for? What parts of Berlin are planning on going to? I like spanish restaurants, there's a good one _in the 'Hackescher Markt‘ trainstation, believe it or not. Um if you want to stay in the center, there's incredible asian food along the train tracks in Dircksenstraße. There's plenty more, you'd have to limit the choice a little though.

I'm in Berlin, send me a PM when you arrive. My favourite cafe is Bonanza:

I think they do tours at the Staatsbibliothek, where part of Himmel uber Berlin was filmed, I had a quick look on their website and couldn't find anything, but their phone number is here:

Thanks for all the tips! Good to hear Dircksenstrasse is good for food - will be staying at the Motel One near Alexanderplatz.
In terms of locations, I don't have a fixed list, but visiting areas such as Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain and Prenzlauerberg are on the list, as well as Wall related memorials, Holocaust memorial, fleamarkets and interesting architecture.
I've booked a place on a Tempelhof airport tour, may also do a walking tour (http://www.alternativeberlin.com/Tours_&_Prices.html).
