There is quite a bit to see in this well-balanced composition...the naval officer's (judging from the soft shoulder board) bemused expression, beautifully captured, the soft-focused scalloped back of a gown with a provocatively outlined shoulder, the half-finished drink... the moving figure leads us out of the frame.
