I've received a Sigma SD1 Merrill which I've been testing with 30mm/1.4 and 70-300m lenses. The autofocus only engages on one of the settings (where you hold the AF button down) but only very reluctantly, and then takes something like 5 seconds or more between half-hearted lurches in and out of focus. Camera is on firmware 1.09.
Given the other AF settings do nothing, and this is far outside the envelope of my SD14 or SDQ, I feel safe concluding it's defective but I wondered if anyone had any words of wisdom that might indicate a way to kick it into life. I've reset the camera settings, turned it on and off, put in a fresh battery...
Any possibility it would benefit from reflashing the firmware?
