Joe (Back Alley) is coming back to New York. We are booking this date in advance so he can attend. The April Meet-Up will be on the 21st. Location to be determined at a later date.

Talk about planning ahead... :)
People are going to need to make reservations months in advance for the meetups.. lol

how did i miss this before?
maybe a bag beauty contest?
a trip to the greatest bag store in nyc?
my new billingham (just ordered today) will be with me...i think.

The best bag store in NYC IMHO is Louis Vuitton on 5th Ave. Check out the "Shawnee" from their "Utah" collection. This is the Louie I presently use and own. Some of the softest cow hide. My next bag will be a "Which-a-taw" fron the "Utah" collection. I need a second Louie that's a little bigger. Too bad that the price of a Louie is about a month's rent for a Luxury one-bedroom apartment in Madhattan.

Also there is "Art Bag" on 84th and Madison where its a boutique where they make only custom hand made bags. Because of the limited supply of high end leather each bag is individually different. The cost is actually cheap considering the quality and being custom made.

Also know that I own a Juki commercial sewing machine and that NYC's fashion district offers a great selection of materials.

I think "Bagfest 2013" is a cool idea.

Hmmm, what ever happened to that homemade bag you brought to the meet-up? I thought you were going to line it with pink fur for me? ;)

John,

It is MIA and might have been lost in the massive cull down that happened when I moved to Madhattan.

Remotely it might be in public storage in Harlem.

BAG ALERT: Leather Leica never-ready case made originally for a Leica R8/R9, but I use it for a Leica M. Perfect size for either carrying a M-bod rigged with a 75 Lux, or for one M-body with two small lenses. Side pocket for a few rolls of film. THe perfect small bag that I use like a pocket.

Pink lining...? Now you've all gone nouvelle on me? I think I'll have to settle for Rattiest Camera Bag in Show.

Well, with Joe showing up, this will be quite the meet-up, wherever we end up meeting. (BTW: cool avatar, Joe...Dashiell Hammett would've been proud.)

Bagfest 2013? The start of a new yearly event?

I have a door prize: a 12 inch rotary cutter.

In my attempt stay lean and trim I am continuing to downsize, but I find and am given all these useful items. Also trying to limit excess so I can continue to live in a Madhattan one bedroom apartment.

afa bags are concerned...the billingham L2 showed up and that's what i'm using for now...if i stick with just 2 lenses then it will accompany me to nyc...if i decide that i want a third lens then i likely will use the retro 7 from think tank...
