Canada march meet up?

Harlem Public would be great! I know I could make a break from the family for awhile if it is there.

Keith, that sounds like a good idea too.

Hopefully we don't get kicked out of Puck Fair after the upcoming Beauty Pagent/swap meet/gearfest/flash mob.

Anyways lets have the March Meet-Up at Harlem Public. Also lets move the date back into later in the month so that Pro-Mone can attend. He gets back from his travels in the middle of the month. Let's say the 24th of March.

Is that good for everybody?

GEAR ALERT: I went back to my bad habits and started day-trading Barnacks again. I now own a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta (531) that is very clean. Nice to have a small camera that can make a big negative. It features a 7.5CM 3.5 Tessar. Although 6x4.5 it's about the size of a M-body with a Rapidwinder and no Rapidgrip.

NJ RFF members: Anyone interested in walking across the GWB to Harlem Public on March 24th? It's about 4-5 miles from the NJ side of the bridge. You should be to park on Hudson Terrace or the Fort Lee Historical Park.

Where does the barnack come into play Cal? Did you sell it?

John,

Rance placed an ad in the classified, and I responded by offering a trade for the Leica II. Basically it was a flat trade, but I own a camera that will likely get more use than a Barnack, and Rance gets a camera that he will likely use more than the ZI.

This Zeiss really has the small camera big negative optimized. Not a fast shooter and mucho old school. I really like the small size. Came with a never-ready case that I already modded.

I'm late to the thread but I'll be back in NYC this month!
Do we have dates? I have to go to SF for an exhibition from the 14th to the 25th... but I'll also be around in April...

Damaso,

The March Meet-Up is now scheduled for the 24th. Lately we started alternating between Puck Fair and Harlem Public to be more inclusive. The March Meet-Up will be at Harlem Public.

Check the April thread because although it is early we already have a date because Joe, (Back Alley) will be attending.

Poor barnack... getting passed around like, ah well, nevermind. ;)

Accually a rather polished, well loved Barnack that will be treasured.

As a previous owner do you have seller's remorse?

The fast deal yesterday happened quickly. For me the Zeiss Ikon is a better camera for me, especially since now I have two Leica M's.
The Barnack would of become more of a shelf queen.

Cal

Yes, a little bit. Not for photography though, but for fondling. ;)

John,

Although I never put film through the Leica II, I took it to work one day and the internet wasn't available at my boring day job. I proceeded to detail and clean the mighty Barnack to the extent that the vintage dirt kinda polished the paint. Those Barnacks are nice objects to obsess over.

Now I have another 1930's camera to detail. I think you will like the Zeiss. In a way its like a Barnack on steroids. I think the 6x4.5 could be interesting and I happen to love Tessars.

I've felt this way over only ONE of my ex's.

Phil,

For me I kinda bond with some cameras until they become part of me. Found a really brassed out 1935 black paint Leica III (model F) that featured nickel knobs. The nickel knobs were even brassy. Although it needed an overhaul, this camera had mojo.

I also miss the M3-DS I had that had been overhauled by Leica Germany that had a brand new "L" seal. I was told that Leica resilvered the prism.

Anyways traded them off for vintage Bruce Davidson pints to an art dealer friend. Oh-well. In the process culled down the
"Camera Farm" and got rid of gear that I no longer deemed important. Still have way too much gear, but now its treasure to keep.
