Hello
I'm new and buying a very nice Leica IIIg with Elmar 50mm f 2.8.
I've examined a "flattish faced" IIIf ever ready case which was holding a IIIf with the collapsed Elmar f3.5. I really like the look of the case, and the way it is cut.
Can anyone tell me if this same flattish faced case will fit a IIIg with a collapsible f 2.8 Elmar? I suppose the f2.8 is bigger collapsed than the f3.5?? So maybe it doesn't fit.
Can anyone help me on this one...perhaps someone has the same set up??
Cheers Dave S

I could be wrong. But I don't think the IIIF casing can fit a IIIG, which is taller.
I don't have the IIIG casing, but saw some online. They are obviously different.

top to bottom over wind knobs, my IIIg is 74mm. 54mm from the flash socket to the front of the 2.8 Elmar. Bottom plate 135mm.
Hope this helps.
Now you need the dimensions of a IIIf

Thanks everyone, particularly Murray and Nomad. Looks like the IIIg is "thicker" and hence wont fit the IIIf flat nosed case.
I'll think up something else.

It's the lens not the camera. I measured with a Fed I-22 and it is exactly as NonadZ said. 44mm. I was quite surprised and I think it is the f2.8 mount, which looks exactly like my Summitar. Adds 10mm to the thickness. Interesting.

Another factor is that IIIg all have self-timers, and the case front is cut-out wider in front to clear the timer lever.

If you don't plan to use the timer, it should be flush enough to fit inside the case.
