Hi Guys,

i may have a problem with my Olympus XA.

My Xa apparently measures the exposure time correctly, but the metered exposure time is not correctly transferred to the shutter.

For example, the light meter measures an exposure of 1/250, but the shutter closes with a double click, which for me indicates an exposure time of 1/30 or longer.

If I take a photo of the same scene shortly afterwards, the shutter closes with a short snap - like it would be for a metered exp. time of 1/250.

Is this problem well known and repairable?

XA series has two meters. One to show it in VF, one for shutter.
If one in VF craps out first, camera still usable.
If one for shutter craps out, it is for recycle.
Which is taking out VF and reusing it as external VF on meterless camera.

Your shows tipycal sindroms of shutter meter going to crap out.

Talking to the tech. who repaired my XA3 recently and he said he liked working on the XA's as they are straight forward. So I guess the answer is yes, perhaps.

But I don't know where you live nor, obviously, who would be best to do the job. I'm sure you could find someone to do it in your part of the world and ask them. Anyway, I'll wish you luck.

Regards, David
