Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday and even though I wasn’t able to get down this year I think it’s fitting to post photos of Mardi Gras events leading up to Fat Tuesday and especially the debauchery and insanity of the day, Fat Tuesday.

Let’s celebrate!

From 2004 shot with Digital Rebel and kit lens.

I did Mardi Gras in New Orleans back in '62 and '63. Those were the days when police were tolerant of drunks, drugs did not kill you, and penicillin cured everything. I decided to remember how good I now thought it was and never return to modern day reality.

My sister and I went to Cajun Mardi Gras down in real Cajun country about 5 years ago. It is highly recommended. We met a guy on some back road who invited us to his "family party at their house". That was a series of major understatements. Very big house. Huge farm. Enough people that the Travel Channel came to photograph it.
