That is a new one on me, Mike. Don't believe they every made it to the US in that body style. Maybe I am incorrect though.

Frankly, Besk, it was a new one on me too. It caught me by surprise, I wasn't sure what it was when I saw it.

It's always good to have one's camera ready for whatever may pop up unexpectedly.

The Notchback did make it to the US but the numbers might be very low...I have seen them here on several occasions but not that often...
There is one just around the corner and down the street from me but sadly not as nice as this one...almost as rare as seeing the European Karmann Ghia...

There were a few around in the US. As a longtime VW afficionado, I always had my eyes peeled for any and every model, and I remember seeing these. I suspect that they weren't officially imported.

This is indeed a Type III Notchback. I don't believe that they were imported into the US in great numbers, but I remember seeing them in California when I was a kid.

It is indeed a Type III Notchback. Not as common as a Fastback or a Squareback, but a few made it into the US. I think they were more common in Canada, but I'm not 100% sure.
