OK, everyone seems to want a digital Bessa, but that is probably not close.

Besides the Digital Bessa, what NEW Voigtlander rangefinder or SLR lens would you like to see?

Cosina IS watching.

How about a Bessa R5 with RF/VF set up for 50, 90, 135mm lenses? To accompany the R4. And to go with it an LTM 135mm lens. Needn't be especially fast.
Or something really wild: a pellix(sp?) mirror , ahem, SLR able to use most LTM and M mount lenses. Not sure if that's really possible but if the mirror doesn't have to swing out of the way, I'd think the flange to film distance could be shorter.

What about a 21mm metal brightline viewfinder similar to the existing 28mm and 35mm versions? (And optionally a 21mm f/2.8 lens to go with it).

Thanks

Vincent

The "Bessa RX": a Bessa M-mount RF body with a zoom viewfinder and electronically controlled brightlines. Zoom viewfinder: either discrete or continuous viewfinder magnification control. Continuous would be wonderful for determining the ratio of visibility inside vs. outside the brightlines, and for improving visibility for glasses wearers. Electronically controlled brightlines: a single parallax corrected brightline is displayed, selectable for any focal length from 15 to 135 mm, limited only by what's actually visible at the current VF magnification.

If they make it, I'd *love* a trip to Japan to meet Kobayashi-san and the Cosina engineering team. ;-)

I would like a faster alternative to to the 75 Color Heliar, a 75mm f1.4 for around $500 would find a large niche in the RF world as the only current options are the CV 75 Heliar ($300) 75 Summarit ($1495), 75 Cron ($2995), and 75 Summilux ($5000).

M:
50mm 1.0 for under $1200, or 1.2 for under $1000.
75mm 1.4.

SLR:
Nokton 50mm 1.5 in Canon EF mount (with AF).

I'll not hold my breath, though.

Solve the strap lug problem. Find a way to move the lugs so that the camera doesn't hang at that wierd angle when the wonderful, light-weight Voigtlander lenses are mounted. Its not right that we have to solve the problem by adding a side grip or trigger winder.:bang:

H.B.: Thanks for putting this thread up for consideration.:)

Since we're dreaming...

Collapsible Tessar 50/3.5 in LTM, S & C mount versions. Uncoated preferable, single coated acceptable. A 50/2.8 would be acceptable as well, but historically the 3.5 lenses always have out performed the 2.8's.

I'd buy the C mount personally. The others would be to make enough for economic needs.

#1) Right now my options for a 15mm are the 350$ CV 15 f4.5 or the 4,000$ Zeiss 15 f2.8. It would be very nice to have faster than the CV and cheaper than the Zeiss (like a 15mm 1.4 for 400$ :)

#2) A fast, fixed lens, small rangefinder with AE, manual a TTL metering. Or a compact Bessa R2/3/4/a/m

Here's a few things that I like and dislike about current CV products:

Like:
- 1:1 viewfinder R3A
- AE on the R*A is accurate, and very easy to use
- Well-priced items
- On a superficial note, I love the look of the R*A cameras and the 40mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4, and 35mm pII

Dislike:
- No AE on the Bessa L
- Bessa L meter only up to ISO 1600
- Meter in the R3a is impossible to read

SLR:
Nokton 50mm 1.5 in Canon EF mount (with AF).

Actually, even though it's officially Zeiss, I'd changes this to a C-Sonnar 50/1.5. Mmmm.... I'd do many unspeakable things for this - E mount (i.e. no AF ) would be fine too

28mm f/1.7 or 25mm f/2.5 on the wide end.

50mm f/1.2 as a fast normal.

75mm f/2 or 90mm f/2.5 short telephotos.

All new lenses in M-mount and using aspherical/APO elements as needed.

*) classic tessar-style 45mm lens
*) a fast lens in an unusual FL, like a 55 or 60/1.2 (with the unusual FL, it wouldn't conflict with the existing product lines of other makers)
*) a "generic" styled RF body (all black, with no lettering whatsoever and perhaps a fixed lens...)
*) a retake on the Leica Thambar: a portrait lens that is romantic and dreamy rather than sharp
*) a single VF that covers 21-25-28, or at least 21 and 28

What I would BUY:

An R5 with a long EBL. A fast (f2) 90mm lens to go with that.

A really outstanding 50mm f2 to frighten the Summicrons of this world.

What I dream about:

Why not pull out all the stops for a record breaking 50mm? CV already has the fastest 28 and 35. Let's try for a f0.9 50mm at half the price of a Noctilux. Just to shut snobby Leicaphiles and Canon 0.95 owners up :D People won't exactly need one, and of course it will be compromised in size and performance. But people WILL want it.

On the shameless and unforgivably kitchy self indulgence side: Blue calfskin body covering.

hmm....

update remaining lenses to m-mount, and maybe change the speed of some lenses:

12/5.6
15/4.5
28/1.9 (or f2.8)
50/1.5 (or f2 rigid)
75/2.5 (or f2)
90/3.5 (or f2.8)
(no focus tabs on the 75 and 90.)

i agree with jamie's strap lug suggestion. some other tweaks to the body could include automatic frameline adjustment and making the flash shoe flush with the top of the body.

they could always make the base length longer, too. guess i should update this pic, but anyway:
