What have you just BOUGHT?

I like it; after some initial successes, I keep producing duds, but no fault of the camera! Sometimes the simplest tools are the toughest ones to master. I need to use it more. Thanks for the nudge!
At least you don‘t have to waste film on a photo you don’t like. For any given subject, with the Neo 90 or SQ6, I typically need two or three “test shots” before I get the image I want - usually adjusting exposure or composition.

Somewhat true. Although I do get to see the image on the screen, I don't really know what it will look like until it prints on the Instax film. That creamy dreamy Instax look is unique to the film itself, and sometimes the image on the screen dies when printed. Other times, printing totally makes the image. I'm still learning how to pre-visualize the final results.

@rfaspan, Thanks for the quote of post 11,333, but I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say apart from maybe something like:

"Why would you buy a manual for something for which you already (sort of) have a manual?"

Well, the clear answer to that, if you must know, is:

"errr, umm, well ummm, I uhh sort of uhh did, y'know?"

So I hope that's cleared things up for you.

Perfectly normal behaviour.

Over the decades I’d see different manuals for the Leica M3, by different publishers, different manuals for Exakta, and so on. I’d buy these because they were very inexpensive and perhaps one manual might explain something differently than the other, or have more detail.

Then there is the situation where I’d buy a manual for a camera that I knew I would get sometime in the future. Years would elapse, I still didn’t have the camera, but I’d see a manual for it. So I’d buy the manual again. This is why I have three (3) Minolta XD-11 manuals. I do have the camera now.

“Future buying” can be a psychological phenomenon: about 15 years ago I bought a 58/1.2 MC Rokkor-PG lens. It was a few years later that I bought an SRT-101 for it.

The new MiNT InstantFlex TL70 Plus arrived yesterday, came with one pack of film. That got used up this morning. The other pack of color film I had in the cabinet went this afternoon. So ... three double packs of Instax SQ Color and four packs B&W are now on the way.

It's a pretty cool camera. I made some good photos with these first two packs... Of course, I am learning how to make it do what I want, so I wasted about half the exposures making mistakes. Par for the course. 🤪

I'll do a review and impression soon. :D

bought used SL2-S to replace M10 for my eyesight, EVF on this looks like real-life, you look thru evf w/right eye, then open left eye to compare just turning top dial for exposure, same view and colors like optical finder, almost like shooting my always-imagined 'digital' Mamiya 1000s.

edits: the raw IQ files from this camera are exc+ for 24mpx, have used Summilux 50, Voigt 35/2, Zeiss M lenses and with Adobe PS latest updates, it's very easy to upsize these 24mpx files and make larger prints. Very similar to Fuji med format, only reason I won't sell Fuji 100mpx is dynamic range at lower light is easy to work with.

I've been chasing a dealer in the UK about these for months (weirdly, they won't answer the phone or reply to emails... and my bank refuses to let me place an order with them online, which makes me think they've been the subject of a lot of chargebacks!), so I finally caved and went the eBay route. Both in great shape, both for a steal. Already had a little play with the Summar adapter on the Focoslide last night - couldn't resist.

I have the S1R with the same EVF and agree, the EVF looks real.

As for my latest purchases I've gone all in on L mount and added the Sigma 20mm F2 DG DN Contemporary, Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG DN Art, Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN Art and the 105 f2.8 DG DN Macro all bought used. Sold a ton of gear that more than covered this. These Sigma's are very good. With the camera set to Aperture Priority the operation is similar to Fuji/Pentax. If I set the lenses aperture ring to 'A' the camera is in Program mode, if I set an aperture on the lens I am in aperture priority mode.

Pentax K-3 iii Monochrome.

I have been interested in this camera from day one! Seems there's a four month wait after ordering it here in Japan.

The Pentax lenses are a strange brew in my opinion. And, third party seems to be non existent.

Marty, I'm happy for you, please share some images when you can.

All the best,
Mike

Thanks for your positivity. I got the first one in Australia, and the local distributor has shut down any more orders after this initial batch. It seems unclear if it will be a limited run, or if they are just overwhelmed and need time to return to production.

I’ll share some photos once I’m familiar with it. I have used all the Monochroms since 2012, so I am at least reasonably prepared, hopefully.

I have the 35mm Macro and 70mm Pentax Limiteds for APS-C size sensors and a couple more on order. The 21, 35 and 70mms provide me roughly what I need, although the 21 and 70 are a bit long (my ideal is 28, 50, 85mm equivalents) but they’ll be ok. The 31 Limited for 24x36 sensors has a lot of chromatic aberration wide open, but maybe a Sigma 30/1.4 might be ok for a fast normal. And I have a collection of all sorts of old Pentax K mount and M42 manual focus lenses. So plenty, not lack of choice, could be a problem for me with this camera.

Ahh. You're welcome for the quote. However, this was the result of my malfunctioning mouse that for some reason decided to do a random quote post. I think it did another one as well...

BTW, I rarely read manuals. I know it's bad, but why when I already know everything? (or so I tell my son).
