This is an old bridge now under heritage protection over the South Fork American River off Route 49 near Placerville east of Sacramento CA. For 20 years I drove out there to watch the river roar. This photo was shot one month ago. Now we are getting a lot of rain and snow.

Normal variations. We normally get cherry blossoms late February, haven’t got them yet.
Since I hate winter, I would photograph and document the first signs of spring. Trees, bushes, plants. I identified four distinct phases. I recorded this over 20 years and I see all sorts of variation over that extremely extremely short time period.

Last year I went back in weather statistics for the area I live And went back to 1948 the year I was born. Every year was different and often quite different with 1955 being the hottest summer and coldest winter by a considerable margin.
Winters and summers in my area are much milder with much longer growing seasons for the farmers and much lower utility bills. I do the averaging with my utility bills and our provider dropped my bill by nearly 15% for the coming year. It’s primarily due to lower consumption due to a milder climate. I’ll take it!
