Love this. 🙂

Where did the time go?😮I am humbled just thinking these young kids are now 27/28 years OLDER. But this image is timeless.

It is interesting to take an old worn lens and shoot it with the same motif to compare with a completely different lens. Different days. Different light. Different developers.

It is even worse, they are 48 years older! Photography is a time machine. …

Haha! I remember that photo and commenting on the iconic Schwinn Stingray bicycle.

One poster on a different site has adopted a style of photography where it is not possible to discern whether the photo was made today or 100 years ago - there’s nothing in the photograph which reveals any information regarding time. These are landscapes, obviously. Yes, there’s always geological change even in a 100-year span (e.g. Mt. St. Helens), but the point is that it’s certainly possible to create such a photo if the location is well chosen.

It is even worse, they are 48 years older! Photography is a time machine. Therefore I am against digital photography: too easy to falsify.

Ha! Typos on iPhones are bad enough! But when I’m exhausted, I am much worse. 😂Thanks, Eric, for the correction.

That Schwinn bicycle… our son had one of those. And he was born in 1975! 😮It brings back a lot of memories but somehow this Time Machine thing doesn’t seem to register. How could that have been nearly a half century? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Eric, good point regarding falsifying images. The chickens are apparently starting to come home to roost with digital everything… think AI.

Our negatives may be one of the few survivors of a huge global digital disaster one day. It is later than we think!

So, I think of Louis Prima’s song, and his encouragement to “enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think!”
And, I am doing exactly that! I just put a Gordy wrist strap on the chrome FTN and I will order a new strap for the black one. 😃

Simple pleasures….😇

Falsify what? (I will probably regret even getting involved in this thread.)

If you scan a film print and post it on the internet it becomes digital, yes/no?

It's likely that there are no safeguards to anything. Moral integrity is all that's left to separate the false from the truth.

Whatever, nothing really matters anymore.

Stable Diffusion AI generated image.

Prompt: “Black and white landscape photo taken with a Nikkormat FTn”

I don't have one so I will humbly leave the room :) ...although I am enjoying the camera porn shots and photographs. 🙏

Oh believe me Dave, the pics you posted gave me some GAS pangs, but i am resisting 😎
Oh, man, then there is only one real solution… and it is quite inexpensive…LOL.😂

I am interested now in some cool stuff for the Nikkormats, so I guess I have a mild form of GAS… 😮

Someone please correct me if I am mistaken… but I remember from years ago that the Nikon F body, (and I believe the S body) is basically the same as the Nikkormats. If so…

I will be checking my slush fund and contacting Luigi for a black case and strap with red stitching!!!
😮😮😮

Or maybe the Rally finish…

Or…😇

Recent black Nikkormat FTN image as I plan my day. Notice how relaxed and dignified it is even as it has to wait for a walk to park…😂 it even had both logo plate screw aligned in the same direction. I really should make them either vertical or horizontal. LOL.🙄

Yes, I think there is some mojo going on with loved cameras.👍

These screws were aligned at the factory to produce optimal image quality - there are quantum entanglement effects between these screws and the photons entering the lens. If you change their orientation, your image quality will degrade.

Beautiful Nikkormat, by the way.

OK, when you can make a superb silver gelatin print from a digital file ...
