Illinois Regular Chicago area meeting

Hey folks,
I said I was going to get to Oak park to scout out a location, but I'm having trouble getting free. Anyone know anything about downtown Oak Park? I do know there's a nice independent book store there (at least, there was in 2001!), but I'd be lying if I said I remembered exactly where.
I don't have any idea where the RTA or CTA trains come into town, but I can't imagine they're too far from downtown proper.
If at all possible, I'll try to make this weekend (Mar 1).
Any info appreciated by the whole group.
Well, back to my freezer pizza puff and Irish whisky.;)
 
There is a Borders on Lake Street - close to Harlem... not too far from the Green line and metra (a pleasant walk from the Oak Park station, or a shorter one from the Harlem station).

I don't remember much except that the Frank Lloyd Wright Unity Chapel is a few blocks down Lake too...

Are we still shooting for the 15th? I want to make sure I still have a shot at downtown for St. Patty's day fun too. :D
 
I'm going to say yes to shooting for the 15th. The Border's seems like a good target. Everyone is familiar with their 'look', so it will be easy to find. Everyone oK with Borders in Oak Park at 11am on the 15th? Can everyone find it?
Pretty easy on google maps.

What say we get a rough head count to see how we look?
 
I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to make it. I'm working more Saturdays starting next month, so a trip to Chicago will make it even harder for me for a while. And since I'm newly married (2 1/2 weeks), I'd better stick around Milwaukee for now. I sure want to get together with some of you though. I was actually daydreaming about it today while at work. :p
 
I can't make March; I'm traveling on business the week before and the week after. I'm sure the honey-do list will keep me busy that weekend.

I think the parade is at 12 noon - downtown.

I have an appointment at 3 in the afternoon in Evanston - but I intend to spend at least a couple hours in Oak Park, iffen people are still coming in, that is.
 
I guess we'll identify ourselves by the cameras we (and I hesitate here) wear... :)

Here's how to ID me. I'm 5'7", have a flat top haircut (if it's cold, I'll probably be wearing a brown hat) and goatee. I'll be wearing a brown leather jacket and I'll have my camera hanging vertical on a strap from left to right. Maybe wearing glasses or not.
