The true quality maximizer german camera is not Leica, but Linhof
In part yes, but people would exteriorize some good feedback and compliments. The era of getting a stereotypical digital photographer stopping and preaching the goodness of the new medium are mostly gone.
You have to ride a Saturday evening through Williamsburg with the IBIS and the Linhof hanging across the chest. Give some schooling to the Hipsters.
Worth of note: In youtube there's this film show "Negative Feedback" and there is an episode of shooting skaters in Venice beach. In a scene one of the kids wants to see the photo in the back of the P67, and upon being told it is a film camera... "That's like the real deal camera".
I grew with a kind of selfconsiousness carrying cameras, don't know why but I still haven't gotten rid of it and a part of me would hate being stopped and told something about cameras.
Another thing that short circuits me are contests and metrics, not getting the "expected KPI" is a bummer and I take it too seriously. Thus, I don't do them.
Best of luck with the PDN contest!
Jorde,
I was told by mentors not to ever do "Vanity Shows" where you pay to be included, and this also was implied to contests where up front they ask for fees.
This contest really is not a contest at all even though it has judges; it really is a business; and I get spammed with invites to PDN contests all the time.
Anyways, only because I think I stand a chance of winning did I pay $70.00 for my two entries. Actually I think it would be funny if I win. "Delusional artist actually gets recognized," they will say. LOL.
As far as juried art shows it pretty much is like these contests; you pay a entrance fee; and it really preys on vanity of which I am guilty.

Cal : Good luck !!!
Philippe,
So much good stuff seems to happen to me all the time. I already knowI have good luck.
I'm just thinking it would be funny to struggle in the arts all these decades and then kinda make it big as the "Incidental Fashion Photographer."
The images I presented are strong though...

As promised, here are some HK shots :
http://mondo.photo/p/0000/
I'm the opposite of Cal . I'm using smaller and smaller cameras. The shots here were taken with a Pentax Espio 928M p&s I bought in HK for $100 HKD (about $10 USD). I used it for quick color street shots, especially at night. I had the film developed and scanned on the road, at a 1hr processing lab. Fuji C200 and Fuji Superia 400. I used a Leica M6 and Tri-X for more "serious" work but I still have to develop the rolls.

Thanks for posting! Some truly good ones in there... 1,9, 14, 21, and 28 are my favorites. You do very well when you are loose (ala Haiti).
What is that website you are using to post on and how can I use something similar?

Mucho cool.
I have wide dynamic range. I yesterday I stripped down the "New" Hammertone M4 to only a Leica strap and a loud red soft release that John gave me. I shoot small cameras too.
BTW was I am curious about the Cantonese in Hong Kong. Were they kinda loud and annoying like me? LOL. Perhaps a little free spirited and crazy?

John , the domain name and site are mine. I have plans for it, I think. I developed the software. You're welcome to use it but at this point you'd have to use Mac OS and be comfortable with command line tools. For this particular gallery, the order of the images is random , it changes on each page reload so I can't match your numbers to the picture you're seeing. But thanks for the nice comments .

Cal , Yes , absolutely ! The Cantonese in HK are awesome. I have a number of good friends there now. All generous and tolerant. HK society is a lot less rigid and formal and more open-minded than Korean society (where I went next) and people are more laid back. Anyways, I'm really comfortable there , I love the energy

Ok, well that didn't work out well haha. Anyway, I liked a lot of them and I figured it was something like that regarding the site. I use Mac OS but no command line skills. I have other ideas, but have been lazy in making web pages.

GEAR ALERT: Linhof's are built like tanks, so now I'm adding firepower. I bought a Linhof Cine Rolliex that weighs 1.71 pounds that can handle 15 feet of 70mm film. 15 feet of 70mm film translates to 53 exposures of 6x7.
I also found a rare 4.5x6 Linhof Cine Rolliex that I estimate will allow for about 85 exposures. Surprisingly I compared the weight of a Cine Rolliex without cassettes against a 120 Super Rolliex back and was surprised that they both weigh the same, so the only added weight is really the 15 feet of film and the cassettes.
Anyways it has been reported that Diane Arbus use to carry three loaded Rollie's in a knapsack, and in the past I have carried two medium format cameras. Shooting 120 for street means constant reloading and mucho missed shots. Creating a pair of "Beast Cameras" kinda is not so crazy. I'll have one camera set up for wide; and another set up with a normal. Pretty much a given that I would not carry two "Beast" cameras at the same time.
Anyways this is where Linhof disease is going. Now I need a 15 foot reel and tank.
Ilford makes double perf 70mm HP5, and I figure I can stick with just one film, but adjust film speed via developer: Percepto for 200 ISO (Pull); ID-11 or D76 for 400 ISO; and Microphen for 650 ISO.

BTW it has been hard for me to commit to a June Meet-Up date. I have to step aside due to a fashion gig "option" which involves all the uncertainty I hate about the world of fashion.
A while back "Maggie" was interviewed and videotaped with me doing this street/runway fashion shooting that we do for the "Cube Collective" which is a bunch of young Chinese that went to fashion and art school at Saint Martens in London that all now live in NYC (LIC). The video was subtitled and also was made with a translator for the Chinese market. This film is one of the reasons why Maggie is so popular in China, but also it was used as part of the introduction for "Fashion Weekend" in Maggie' recent trip to China.
So yet again it seems like this is going to happen yet again, but this time it is a U.S. broadcast news network, and the segment will be broadcast nationally during primetime. One day of shooting is with Maggie who will be "dressed" and styled by one of three designers for a fashion event. Then there will be another day where we will get documented doing our street/runway shooting in NYC.
The story is not really about me, but somehow I'll in the backdrop. Anyways it is a mucho big deal.
If you guys want to meet-up, I'll try to join you, but I really can't commit to anything right now. A lot of things are being negociated right now...
Perhaps this is why I am being drawn back into film. At least I can control something in my life. LOL.

BTW I was walking to work this morning, minding my own business, when I see a large frame curbside on Third Avenue near 92d Street. So the smut queen that I am I go and look and it is an "Authentic Edition" Ansel Adams poster of a snow covered tree with a hint of a mountain in the background.
So of course I took it to work with me. Don't tell Maggie that I'll be bringing it home tomorrow. The good, the bad and the ugly is that the frame is a cheap one, but the poster is really lovely, and I like the image. I'll take it home and remove the poster from the frame to save it. Hopefully the obvious non archival mat caused no damage. It will only be revealed when I take it out of the frame.
I'm a lucky garbage picker. LOL. I figure this is a poster that Ansel Adam's estte allowed to be reproduced, and that is what the "Authentic Edition" means. Replace authentic with authorized meaning with permission.

MFM,
It is a great and beautiful image. What luck to have found it. It seems likely because the mat is beginning to buckle to show that the framing was cheesy and cheap the poster is being thrown away.
BTW because I really walk around a lot I find things all the time. I almost stepped on a Contax T3 in its case in Williamsburg, so I found a camera.
Also on Broadway near the Leica Gallery I found a vintage Leitz tripod being thrown out on the curb. I eventually gave it away as one of the prizes in one of our annual Camera Beauty Contests.
Anyways I find treasure all the time. One year we had a "Cheap Camera Contest" and I thought I had a ringer because I found a 2x3 Press camera at the Housing Works right near (across the street) from Puck Fair, where we had our monthly Meet-Ups. I paid $24.99.
Sam had a Voightlander Bessa with a Heliar lens that he also paid $24.99 so we had a tie, but it came down to the sales tax. Sam bought his Bessa out on Long Island in a thrift shop and since NYC sales tax is higher I lost to Sam who was gunning for the camera.
The prize did go to Bethane for a Nikon F3 she presented as being willed from her grandmother.
Anyways it seems I have great karma/luck.

MFM,
I identified the image in my poster to be Oak Tree, Snowstorm, Yosemite.
At the vendor where I searched Haft Dome, Apple Orchard, Winter, Yosemite it seems no longer available as no tab for purchase appeared removed.

I was not able to save the AA poster because it was dry mounted.
Looks like this Thursday is the shoot and they decided to jam two days of shooting into one day.
"Maggie" has 217K followers and a few weeks ago she was "Verified" by Instagram which is being recognized as a celeb.
At this level weird things have begun to happen where someone posed as "Maggie" and reposted images pirated from her account to create another Instagram account. Pretty much Maggie has her Instagram and branding stolen in a new form of identity theft. How crazy is that?
In the end within 24 hours the bogus account was taken down. Maggie's agent said that at this level expect things like this to happen.
Does anyone want to have a June Meet-Up now that I have the "Call Sheet?"
