Annoying that the Instax Mini film is for sale everywhere, but the Wide seems only to be available (if at all) through the online photo retailers.

I have an instax wide printer and like the format - very close to 35mm. It is very useable alongside the M11 with the fotos app to download previews and then instax app to print to the printer. If you buy a Leica Sofort you can skip the phone too.

Unfortunately, the current printers don’t connect directly to the Fuji cams:(

Appreciate it’s not direct exposure of the instax media

It's interesting, to be sure. I like the Instax Wide format & size. Instax is miles beyond what Polaroid puts out now.
Polaroid doesn't do a wide format, but their film has improved dramatically. Their B&W emulsions are superior to what Instax provides, and the images are silver based rather than dye-based. I don't know what this might mean for permanence, but I suspect it's an improvement.

To each their own, but I haven't had good luck at all with modern Polaroid, color or B&W. Too many irregularities and flaws, and they don't have much longevity either.

I find it hard to believe the “sharpest instant camera on earth” claim given the number of home brews around using MF lenses.

If I hadn't recently bought the Mint RF70 this one would have been tempting for sure. But, right now I much prefer polaroids over Instax.

I have Instax SQ, Instax Wide, and four Polaroid SX-70 derivative (one completely original from 1973) cameras. I have an Instax SQ back for my Hasselblad 500CM as well. I find I get about the same numbers of keepers and duds from all of them: the issue isn't the Polaroid vs Instax business but the extremely narrow dynamic range and exposure latitude of all instant print media.

I have Polaroid B&W and color, both 600 and SX-70 format, from up to 12 years ago now that haven't faded or changed at all as well.

In the end, it simply comes down to what you learn how to do with whichever film and camera you use. :)

Come on now...
Ok, maybe not huge numbers but at various camera fairs I have seen Instax cameras with hacked on Mamiya MF lenses hanging round people’s necks. Then there are small producers using the Lomograflok back and MF/LF lenses such as Chroma Camera. With a simple cone and a Lomograflok it’s not so hard. I hung a 105mm Apotar in a Prontor shutter in front of one with a 3D printed cone. Ugly as hell but it worked. The Lomography camera seems nice but I feel that they can’t claim to be the sharpest just because it has a glass lens.

Anyway the Sofort must be the sharpest as it is a Leica 😂

I think they are most likely comparing themselves to self contained mass produced versions. Of course what you are saying is right too.

Of course! haha.

Agreed, I don’t think they were considering crazy hobbyists with boxes of left over lenses. Here is my one attempt, it wasn’t bad but I plan to go back and add style and a better lens.

Oh and perhaps a viewfinder and rangefinder. And some go-faster stripes!
