Asking Price Shipping Amount Condition
$295.00 $21.00 Excellent

This is a Canon rangefinder M39 LTM screw mount lens from my own personal collection which I have ...alas  decided to liquidate after 25yrs of collection Canon RF gear.

I have never used the lens and it has been on show in a glass display cabinet.

Lens is free of fungus and internal dust.

Apperture blades open and close with ease.

Barrel is in excellent condition and filter rim is free of any dings.

The red EP mark normally doesn't add any extra value to a lens, but I have recorded only a few lenses with this mark and was the one reason why I collected it.

The EP mark is described in my book “Canon M39 Rangefinder Lenses 1939-1971” on page 30 and the lens is also mentioned on page 212 and pictured in my book on page 6.

Alas no caps but these are available on eBay etc.

All the best and cheers Peter

Would you be able to say something about the "EP" marking for those of us who don't have access to your book?

Thank you.

My understanding is that “EP” means “Exchange Post,” ie a stamp on a Canon lens (or camera body) sold at US military bases in occupied Japan after WWII. If I’m wrong about that I’m sure someone will correct me...

Hi Smiffi and thanks Bingley for your clarification of the mark. As "Bingley mentioned the mark was for items sold in USA Military PX stores in Japan after WW2 and during the Korean war and after that as I have in my "dwindling" collection a 1974 FD lens with the mark. Peter Dechert and I agree that the "EP" meant "Exchange Poste" and can appear on other manufacturers items being sold at that time. Anyway, my book gives a better description of that mark and many others that appear on early Canon RF lenses. All the best Cheers Peter
