Notes

My wife and I work a small allotment. The site has around 170 plots and has enjoyed a cast of well known characters over the years. One of the first that we were introduced to was 'Rotavator John', who for a small fee would rotavate anyone's plot. Eventually, as he was getting much older, John became unable to manage his rotavator and, one day, was found to have fallen under the machine. He was very fortunate as the tine were spinning very close to his head. After being rescued John was persuaded to give up his plot for someone else, but his rotavator stands outside his old shed to this day.
