The local council, in its infinite wisdom and with limitless money, decided to deface all the weirs on the River Aire with fish runs. When they blocked off a third of the width of this one, the increased flow over the remaining two thirds swept away a chunk of structure, thereby wrecking a 400 year old historic listed structure. I presume someone gets paid for this.
