Anothr view of Motonosumi Inari Shrine

Near the shrine is this massive concreate sea wall.
On the day I visited the wall looked small do to the size of the waves that were pounding it.

All the best,
Mike

More from Motonosumi Inari Shrine

Once one reaches the top of the torii gate path there is a big torii gate with a money collection box between two foxes (with a heart on the front of it).
I'd guess that it's about 6 meters from the ground to the money box and if one can toss a coin in the box your dreams will come true.

A shot from the backside of the torii gate. The little black dot above the telephone pole is an incoming coin.

Many try, few succeed. From my observation there seemed to be a lot more women trying to get a coin in the box than men.

All the best,
Mike

Thanks for the great images of Japan, Mike.

I spent the first two years of my Navy time in Yokosuka, and the remaining 18 years trying to get back. Japan is a wonderful place to be....thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Kamurah! If you ever make it back to Yokosuka let me know, I'll buy you a beer or a cup of coffee, your choice.

All the best,
Mike

It was our last day of our 3 day tour and we started out the morning visiting Hagi City.
The first place we visited was "Kikuya Residence".

It's a National Important Cultural Property and the first thing I thought after seeing my images is that I need to improve my technique for taking pictures of Japanese gardens.
Capturing the atmosphere of a Japanese garden in a photograph is more difficult than I thought. How to capture the feeling of peace and tranquility and not look like an overly busy and cluttered scene is something I need to work on.
I am always open to constructive criticism.

It's a nice place to visit, even the entrance to the public restroom is picturesque.

The small side streets in this area of Hagi City are lovely.

All the best,
Mike

Hagi City - Shoin Shrine.

The best thing about visiting a Shinto Shrine is the tranquil atmosphere.

Mini umbrellas hanging from the branch of a tree. I don't know why and I don't care, I just enjoy what I see and then move on.

All the best,
Mike

Taken with the X100V, sadly I'm returning my copy as there's a spec of dust inside the lens.

^ Great shot, Taemo, I hope to see more from you and the X100V when you get a dust-free copy.

A few more from Hagi City - Shoin Shrine.

There are some small shops near the entrance of the shrine selling various local products.
There's a large variety of the local Hagi pottery.

All the best,
Mike

Welcome to Akiyoshi Dai. Or, as I like to call it "the middle of nowhere".

And, if there's any doubt that this is the middle of nowhere there's an observation tower to give one a better view of nothing but brown grassy hills and rocks.

In reality this place is pretty cool.

All the best,
Mike

Entrance of the Otsuka Museum of Art. This place is built like a fortress.

It's a long escalator ride from the front door to the actual MOA entrance.
But, it's worth it! This place is amazing! And, admission is expensive too!

All the paintings in the museum are reproductions of the originals. They are reproduced on ceramic plates
and you are allowed to photograph them, heck you can even touch them. These are a couple of my favorites.

The museum is huge and it takes a few hours to a full day to see everything.

All the best,
Mike

A couple from the Otsuka Museum of Art's Vincent Van Gogh exhibit.

It's time to catch the bus to the airport and go home. While waiting for our bus I took this picture of our hotel conveniently located in front of the train station and bus terminal. "Hotel Sunroute" http://www.sunroute-tokushima.com/en/

Havana 2013 - my first color photos in Cuba. I have been photographing in Cuba for a number of years but always in b&w. But I but forced myself to take out my new to me X100 for a day. These were from that day. I still shoot with that camera.

Thank you Mike...and right back at you! Great shots. I always loved Japan in the spring...the colors were unreal.

BTW...did you upgrade from the F to the V? What do you think of it so far? This is my first Fuji camera...and I am kinda blown away at how good this little thing is.
