Zeiss Contax Forum for the classic Zeiss Contax I, II, III, IIa, IIIa , G series, and if you want to push it, the nice Contax point and shoots. Some spill over from the Kievs, the Soviet copy of the Contax II/III can also be expected. Plus the ONLY production camera ever made in classic Zeiss Contax Rangefinder mount WITH TTL metering ... the Voigtlander Bessa R2C.

Identifying a lens: what is this ??

My apologies if the answer is obvious, but I would to know what kind of mount is this (or if parts of it are missing...).
And what camera did this lens belonged to ?

Thank you

Joao

Hello Joao,

Perchance its an early, collapsable 50mm lens for the Contax rangefinders?

Cheers, Robert

Contax -- Rangefinder, the ORIGINAL of course. Looks complete to me.

Yeah, forgot that part. Contax rangefinder.

Probably compatible with Kiev's?

Contax mount, but don't know to which camera it originally belongs.
Edit: too slow :-)

Many thanks .
Your answers are good news for me.
This lens lays among a bunch of old stuff in a thrift shop. The shop owner does not know anything about it (or about cameras). He may sell it for a few euros, I guess... The apertures worked fine and, on a quick inspection there were no signs of fungi.
Unfortunately I will not be able to return there until mid-October, so I will have to ask someone to go there and pick it.

Thank you again

Joo

I got the lens for 10 euro. It is quite clean and seems to fit well in the Kiev 4AM. There is already a test rol inside.
