So, back to Ektachrome!

Any information on the results that have been obtained by all of those photographers shooting test rolls for Kodak?

Meanwhile back at the ranch, I am loaded with expired Ektachrome 120... sigh... still trying to break free from doctors and hospitals. Hopefully we will make a daytrip to the mountains soon.

It is after all, OKTOBERFEST in North Georgia and the crescendo of fall color in the Smoky Mountains is only a few weeks away!!

The silence is wonderful... seriously. no more Kodak bashing.

Now, this is the last I have really heard:

https://petapixel.com/2018/08/16/kod...ds-of-testers/

Any links to these testers results would be appreciated!

I think half a dozen testers posted results on the Kodak Instagram feed. The film appears to work, which is about all you can tell. You'll have to shoot a roll yourself when it is released to find out if you like it.

* A comment from someone in a fb group (unrelated to Kodak/Ektachrome) that runs a photo store in AU. According to him Kodak (or distributor?) is taking preorders and is citing 3-4 weeks for delivery.

It does look like they're getting close now. Kodak is on Instagram today asking for contact info for worldwide E6 processors for app integration. Very cool. From their post:

"We need your help! In case you haven't heard...we're bringing Ektachrome back. We're updating the film app so that everyone will be able to buy it, process and scan it worldwide. So...if you sell it, process color reversal, sell chemistry for home use or offer scanning services please download the app (available for Apple and Android), and make sure you're on the list or that your details are correct. Thank you!!!!"

This is good news, for it seems to indicate that Kodak is serious about letting its customers know where to buy the film and where to get it processed.

Well it looks like this thread has come full circle. Kodak is sharing a pic of the press release with today's date, showing that they are now shipping to distributors. Well done!

I believe it is currently available for order by distributors and retailers. Let me know when it shows up on your dealer's shelf.

I'm just saying that press release states that 35 is available now, 16mm on Oct. 1st.

Availability at my dealer's is something completely different and that info would be totally worthless to anyone else...

KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME Film E100, available from Kodak Alaris, will immediately begin shipping to distributors and stock house dealers worldwide. The new film will initially be available in 135/36x camera format and is expected to be a favorite among professional and enthusiast photographers alike.

KODAK EKTACHROME 7294 Color Reversal Film in the Super 8 format will also be available beginning October 1, 2018 from Eastman Kodak Company. Availability of EKTACHROME products in the 16mm format will follow later this year.

Just stopped in my local shop for darkroom supplies, and was talked into picking up a few rolls—they just got them in this morning. After scanning some old E100 this morning, I couldn't resist!

$11 here in Seattle (Glazer's), 35 only so far, but they're planning on stocking 120 and 8mm.

I ordered mine from Freestyle: out of stock will be in mail after October 16th.

Edit: it has been mailed from freestyle (10-10-2018), I'll be able to use it on upcoming trip. $12.99 from Freestyle plus CA tax.

I've got 5 rolls coming from Glazer's in Seattle.

Glazer's called me on the phone today to tell me that they were holding the 5 rolls I had requested. I then made the purchase over the phone.

Ektachrome doesn't exist in 120 format.

B&H still shows it as pre-order. Rockbrook (local to me) does not even list it yet.

My mistake—they might have been referring to 16mm and my wishful thinking misinterpreted it....

either way, it's in stock, with cine film coming.

Freestyle said they were out until October 16, 2018 but I just received my roll today just in time for a couple of mini vacations. Will post when I get the results back.

At this time I would settle just for a photo of the box and canister

Most European dealers have end of November as the date of availability of Ektachrome here...

Old box:

And to prove I have it in my hot little hands, here's about half my haul from this week.

Box and canister look almost exactly the same (minus the G/VS icon). Looks like the cine film will have a retro style box.

It may be a long wait. This is from Michael Raso of FPP:

"Thank you for being part of this amazingly successful re-launch of Kodak Ektachome. Kodak is currently allocating film to Kodak partners all over the globe. This process means that all retailers will get rolls of Kodak Ektachrome. Unfortunately, this means that we, The FPP (and I'm guessing other US outlets) will run out of rolls to fulfill our pre-orders. We have shipped 1,000 rolls of Ektachrome this past week alone and are anxiously awaiting new inventory from Kodak. We've just received notice that the demand has exceeded the supply and that our next batch (scheduled for this week - October 15th) has been delayed one month."

So, the new Ektachrome is a big hit.
