The images posted here, by the way, look great - digital or otherwise.

I look at it this way if I want an image to look like 35mm Plus-X that's what I'll shoot it with and if I want it to took like MF Tri-X that's what I'll use. This doesn't mean that I don't like the look of Digital B&W
M8 ISO 640 vs M6 HP5 @800 XTOL 1-1 lens for both shots CV 35mm 2.5

GREAT images here, everyone. Thanks for posting them. Threads like this help me a lot to make decisions about gear. Much appreciated.

ISO 800. PP: BW conversion, slight black point clipping, a fairly odd-shaped gradation curve for enhanced local contrast (partial solarization), grain added (image contained ugly digital noise), slightly cropped.
ISO 800. PP: Converted to BW, gradation curve for higher midtone contrast, perspective correction, slight crop, minor retouches.
ISO 2500
ISO 1600. PP Pseudo HDR treatment using two different exposure levels based on one RAW base file and a layer mask. The raw file contains more DR than can be reproduced by any normal 8-bit JPG file - at least 2 EVs more. Other things to take care of in pp were simulations of a film's toe and shoulder (shadow and highlight compression with film, whereas digital files have a straight, linear transition to full black/noise threshold and full white/saturation).

I think digital b&w is frustrating. But, digital encourages more shooting for me.
