There is no one left in Toronto that I consider reliable enough to work on most film cameras. However, I did just have an excellent experience sending an M2 to Rene Genest at Service Camera Pro in Quebec City. The price was very reasonable, and you're shipping in-country, so it's not too difficult or expensive. Rene clearly loves what he does, and is great to chat with on the phone.

I can’t think of anyone in the area. I understand the Zeiss Contax is not like other cameras to work on.
lonemantis -Glad to hear you had good service from Service Camera Pro. I became aware of them a short time ago. I will likely use them at some point.

You might possibly take a stab at contacting Russ Forfar (formerly of Kominek Camera). He might know someone: (416) 977-2132, e-mail: [email protected]

Downtown Camera might also be a possibility.

Another source could be the Photographic Historical Society of Canada -- they might have a list (I'm sure now rather short!) of repair people: [email protected]

Good info Vince. I live in the Toronto area and I've tried looking for someone with no luck.
