Great News to Share!

I have some great news to share with others. I just found out that two of my images in our group's exhibit have sold!!

Perhaps for someone else this would be no big deal. However, these are the very first images I've ever sold in my entire life and I am thrilled beyond belief.

A bit of background:

I am in a group of women photographers who go out shooting a lot. Our very first group exhibit is now up at Beaverton City Hall, which is a suburb of Portland, Oregon. It will be open, by the way, through the end of February. If anyone is in or near the Portland, OR area would like to see the exhibit of our work, they are welcome to see it between 8 and 5 weekdays.

A bit about the images sold:

Both are 16 x 20 images. One is a digital image and is a sunset image shot on the Oregon Coast. The other is a film image (Velvia 50) shot with my FM2N. It is a waterfall image taken at Silver Falls State Park near Salem, OR.

I was so exited upon hearing the news this evening that I wanted to share it with everyone!

Ellen

Think positive thoughts and one day it will happen!

I never in a bazillion years ever thought that anyone would've paid money for an image I've shot. And I especially didn't think it would happen after reading Chris Crawford's recent post about how bad the economy is right now and how artwork is just not selling.

Keep working toward your goals and one day you WILL follow in my footsteps!

Congratulations Ellen. Although I only ever sell the odd print online every couple of months or so, it never gets old, and I still recall the feeling, the first time someone bought one. Well done!
Best,

Absolutely.
And especially for someone to open up their wallet in this economy :-)

Thank you everyone!

As much as it has been a thrill to sell two of my images in the exhibit, it has also been a great experience to read everyone's supportive comments here on RFF.

Again, thanks all!

Congrats from Eugene, Ellen. Perhaps you and your group would consider doing a monthlong show at DIVA in Eugene sometime in 2014-15?

There are other venues in Eugene as well, but I'm on the board of DIVA and try to ensure we have at least one photography-based show/year.

Thanks, Robert!

To answer your question, I think our group would be very interested in doing a month long show at DIVA in Eugene in 2012-2015. I'm going to be sending you a PM on this.

Great news! Congratulations, you're a professional photographer

I can remember the first time I saw an article I wrote in print, it was a great feeling and I expect this to be similar. Enjoy it!
