Zeiss Contax Forum for the classic Zeiss Contax I, II, III, IIa, IIIa , G series, and if you want to push it, the nice Contax point and shoots. Some spill over from the Kievs, the Soviet copy of the Contax II/III can also be expected. Plus the ONLY production camera ever made in classic Zeiss Contax Rangefinder mount WITH TTL metering ... the Voigtlander Bessa R2C.

Finally got a chance to get back to the Contax... here are some recent ones from a family vacation in North Adams to visit Mass MoCA and the Berkshires. I brought the Leica with BW film and the Contax (full kit) for color. The images below are all shot with the 45.

This one was on Kodack Gold but later "digitally cross-processed"

Cropped to 16x9

Hey fellow Contax G shooters.
After years of lusting after one, last month I got a great deal on a G2 body and the 35/2 lens. I could have had either the 35/2 or the 45/2 and I chose the 35 because I prefer the fov.
Here's a shot from the first roll, shot wide open on Kodak Ektar.

Thank you
I've yet to understand the "doubt" about the 35/2. It's superb AFAIC.

Excellent shot. I like the layers of subject matter. It reminds me of Tim Fitzharris' landscapes. Blanca is such a unique spot. Ive been up there several times since the late '90s. Here's one from the far side, up by Columbia Glacier; shot with the Rokkor M 90 (CLE).

OK, here are a few oldies but goodies. These were all shot, scanned and adjusted in Photoshop well over 10 years ago.

It's been too long since we've seen some fresh Contax G output!

Here is an effort to remedy the situation...

I know people alway say that the gear doesn't matter (and I agree 99%) but anecdotally, the images in this thread are all top drawer. Nearly everything I've seen from the G system has been, at the very least, technically superb. Sure it's the photographer, and maybe the G bunch are just over-achievers ;-) but I have to say there's something about those lenses...

The lenses certainly live up to their Zeiss name IMHO.
