Lovely images here. I had the newest 50 Lux ASPH for a while and sold it last winter. I'm thinking of maybe giving one of these a whirl. Tough decisions

Anyone use a third party focus tab of some kind with this lens? Any good?
I have the v3 version and love it but really miss a focus tab to get rough focus straight up.

...and a picture with the lens, with Portra 160.

Congratulation: the Summilux first version has a unique signature, unrepeatable, pasty & buttery blurry. I would not even change it with an Asph. The same Noctilux optical design but blurry is more beautiful and enjoyable than f / 1. Enjoy with it!
Cheers

[quote=menos;2601681]short list:

- much heavier battery (->heavier camera and a heavier spare to carry)
- additional (not useful) controls, buttons and functions all over the body
- frame lines only show when camera is on AND awake (LED powered now)
- frame lines too bright (distracting, especially in low light)
- ISO selection another step backwards (no more full stop changes)
- instead of shutter speed, exposure compensation in viewfinder when half pressing shutter release, leads to me not setting exposure compensation, leads to over exposing highlights
- awkward bottom plate with fidgety lock (again different from classic M design, which was perfect already)
- hot shoe / EVF port cover is bulky and pointy - hits into forehead
- self timer position cannot be reprogrammed to act as single drive mode, hence mode selector cannot act as on/off switch as with Leica M7 (and M9 based cameras)

All in all Leica has gone another step into complicating the digital M rather then taking action on their slogan "Das Wesentliche" (The Essential).
The camera feels bloated and awkward and is completely distracting me from taking pictures.
I now enjoy my film cameras a lot more than before (and am sad I gave away my old MM for this, which I felt was the very best camera Leica has done so far).
Every time I take this new MM with me the thought of selling it is creeping into my head as it is just such a bad camera.

For all these reasons and others I still prefer my M2. Cheers

Buy an M3 for your Summilux 50mm v1. This wonderful lens deserves it. Beautiful work.
