Leica Summicron 35/2 IV focus tab replacement
Well, as the title described,
the focus tab on my lens was broken into 2 pieces after nearly 30 years after its production.
Bad news is I can't find the missing piece hence I guess i have to replace it
Does anybody know where to get it?
Searching ebay comes up with this but seller mentioned it fits for 28/2.8 lens. i am not very sure if it fits the 35/2 IV
Thank you all!

Happened to me too but I was able to glue it back. If you're replacing it I would consider asking this guy if there are any for the 35 Summicon IV.

I went to the page linked in the OP, and then scrolled down. The seller has an explicit ad for replacement tabs for v4 35 summicron there. I recommend getting that.

Yeah, I looked again in seller’s inventory and found a listing of 35/2 focus tab.
Will consider that one with the brass made from Michael’s one on 2nd post.

Those are my parts, I’ve never used the v4 summicron one (EDIT: it was for the 50mm Summicron), but I made it based on the specifications of a repairer in England a little while ago, they said it worked a treat but always appreciate any feedback if do go that route.
There’s a thread on RFF somewhere where I describe them a bit, but here’s one from LUF https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic...b-redux/page-1
The 35 summilux one should work, but PM me for more info - I can make one specifically for you if need be, it’s pretty quick.

Seems to me that for $35 they are a bargain. Though I would want mine blackened to match the lens.

(They're brass)
I've heard of people getting the done in black chrome too - I think some custom car repair places can do it. That'd match the lens really well.
I think I can get it done in Matt Black Steel too, might look cool.
EDIT: yep, I can, might look pretty neat on the black chrome lenses.
I've also made on in Silver to (sort of) match the Titanium lenses. The black plastic seems so out of place on the Ti lenses.

Hi Michael,
The matte black steel is added just in time.
Is it stainless or not?
If possible, do you have any other material that would match black chrome more or Matt black steel is perfect already?
Thanks.

DAG replaced my missing focus tab on my 50 cron v4 for $70 USD. If you don't want to deal with tearing apart the lens and are willing to ship to the US, that would be my suggestion.

I think the matte black is the best match, and yes, it’s stainless steel. I can do any of these metals https://www.shapeways.com/materials/steel as well as brass, bronze, silver, gold, and platinum (at rapidly increasing costs).

Second that. Don has a large inventory of spare parts.

Several prominent repairers around the world (though not DAG) use my focus tab when doing these repairs, especially as their stock dries up or the customers want something more robust than the original. The lens has to be taken apart for either the original or my part, no difference.
US$70 for the tab and replacement is about what I'd expect any repairer to charge ($40 part plus 30 min work @ $1/min), but the cost from people outside North America is the insured shipping both ways. That makes it cost to $300 all up for me. Still cheaper than going back to Leica which would have cost me over 500 Euro to replace a small plastic part - that's why I made my focus tab in the first place!

I ordered the tab from Michael
His is for the 35/1,4 while my lens is 35/2 iv so i took the risk that it would not fit my lens perfectly
In fact the 2 positioning pins and the screw shape are not matches with my lens. Luckily the local technician managed to removed the pins and drill 2 female threads and used 2 screws to attach the tab to my lens. He also painted it in black, looks cool.
Verdict: the part is solid and looks cool. It will last forever i think.
Wish Michael will make more different tabs for others lens. But the most important thing is dimensions of those tabs are different. So be sure to get exact tab for your lens.

Looks excellent Trung,
The Leica plastic one is bendable, so they can fit a range of lenses. Mine a metal and therefore rigid, so you need to get the right one. It appears the Summicron 2/35mm is close to the pre-asph Summilux, but not exactly the same. If anyone wants a specific one not in my inventory, I need a few key dimensions - contact me first.
At the moment I have them for the;
Summilux 1.4/35mm pre ash II,
Elmarit 2.8/28mm v3, and
Summicron 2/50mm v4.
Currently working on one for the VM 1.7/35mm. It's a tricky one!
