Apart from that have a Rolleiflex 3.5F, the odd Minolta XD7, Hasselblad 500cm, a Topcon Super D and an Intrepid 5x4 large format (not the half of it but I am clearing them out, honest).

I do all my own black and white developing at home.

Steve,

Are you in the pool with your Leica MP and Summicron, wading around, waiting for something to happen? If so, tip my hat at the dedication. That would be an extreme example of the adage, “the best camera is the one you have with you”. Nice shot

Yes, back in the day when Leica stuff was only expensive, not incredibly expensive. Probably wouldn't do it today. No longer have the camera, nor the lens. Still have the dog though.

Maybe I need to quit babying cameras. I did go into a pool once with a camera, but it was a Nikon N90 with the kit lens.

Or get a waterproof housing. Or a (now cheap!) Nikonos V. I use both solutions. But I’ve waded into water in Scottsdale and Fresno and Kaua’i, sometimes up to armpits, with my Sigma SDQ, Klasse S, A7. The pleasure is worth the risk and vice versa.

Manly beach, summer 2018-19. Manly has a high dog population and the beach esplanade is a popular dog walking and doggy-social ritual.

Our two new rescue Whippets who arrived about a month ago. Blimey...they have a lot of energy!

Luna (5) and Willow (10). They ended up in a shelter after their elderly owner died last year. Not sure if they are mother & daughter or unrelated, but they are very bonded.

They seem to be enjoying their new home

Sorry for your loss, it’s rough. At some point in the future a new puppy can help. It won’t replace, but it can help, even if it might not seem so right now.
Best wishes.

Thanks Larry. They're settling in really well. Definitely got their feet under the table, eating us out of house and home, always pushing me off the sofa, gleefully trailing mud everywhere, wrecking our just-made bed, and slowing destroying the garden...

We're absolutely loving it!

Here's my Brittany, Piper, and Bassett buddy Rondo.

Had been shooting with newly acquired Pentax K1000. Good looking example, but, about 1 of 6 shots would have a vertical line through the frame, with different exposure on either side -- shutter speeds of 1/30 or 1/250. I guess that's from one shutter curtain slowing up...? Odd that it's not consistent.Buddies, Piper and Rondo by wwfloyd, on Flickr

If and when I'll ever settle down in one particular place close to a fenced dog park, I will adopt a greyhound. They are healthy; they are couch potatoes, and they don't bark often. A canine version of Oblomov.

They are wonderful dogs. A bit too big for us, so we went for Whippets instead. And I don't think you would need a fenced dog park for a Greyhound. Most seem to be happy to plod along on the lead for a 30 minute walk before flopping onto the sofa for another ten hours!
