Staff: Back of House, Front of House.

Sorry about the typo in the title of this thread.

Not sure if we have done this before, but going back through my body of work I realized I have some images I am particularly happy with, focusing on staff in restaurants, cafes and bars. It set me thinking.........we have threads that have shown people (customers especially) in those situations generally, but I am not so sure of ones focusing more specifically on staff.

So I thought I would get the ball rolling with some capturing those hard working staff members who keep plying us with coffee, food and booze.

If you're going to be at the back of anyone's house, hard to beat the late great Michel Richard's.

Another photo similar to one I posted below shot on a different day (5 months apart) but from the same vantage point.

Pizza e Mozzarella 2 by Life in Shadows, on Flickr

I clearly had a bit of a "thing" for this restaurant back when these images were made - I think because the window off a side street looked directly into the kitchen and through into the dining area. So, always a chance of lots happening.

Back of House by Life in Shadows, on Flickr

And this one appeals to me for the lighting

Cafe Study Abstract by Life in Shadows, on Flickr

Always interesting to see where the "magic" happens.

Me too. Which I guess is why I tend to prefer longer lenses and the distance they confer without intruding on personal space. And also I shoot and scoot.
