My 35 2.0 Ultron arrived yesterday. Same deal, looks new with the used price. About most of the way through the first roll and looking forward to the results.

So much film to develop when I get home...Thank heavens my R lenses are all back in the UK!

Hi,

FWIW (Cont'd), the meter arm has a mechanical connection, that has been reported as a source of problems; usually solved by cleaning, IRC.

PS Had my CL for decades and I think you'll see why. That and the 90mm lens cover a lot of pictures and take up little space.

And they had a Topcon Super D for $25.... with the 58 macro f/3.5... what would you do. They also had a few bits and bobs like the wlf and matched 1:1 ring and so on. Now I'm crusin for Exakta mount lenses. Any body need a penta prism and wlf for an Exakta VX... I couldn't leave them behind

My arm works, just no battery to check it delivers the correct exposure. But I love it already, it's just a very nice thing. Home today and I can dig out a battery to test it.

While looking around at a local thrift store I did a double take on the used junk electronic shelf and walked out with a very nice Ricoh "35" for $4.00. After my usual series of tests at the store I had to have it. I just loaded it up with some Kodak XX for some test shots tomorrow. I did very well at the thrift stores in the area the last few days Picked up a bunch of new projector bulbs for $3 a pop, a $4 box of unused Kodak 35mm magazines/cassettes, some 16mm movies, a set of 4 12" Smith Victor hot lights (at $10 for the set I am happy and can use them), and more.....

Having recently sold my last stock of about 30 packages of Fuji FP-3000B, I could afford a used Polaroid One Step 2, an even larger stock of Polaroid I-Type film (which I'm loving) and even 20 rolls of Kodak color negative film in 35mm format for my other cameras. Time to get out and shoot..

10 8gb micro SD cards as I don't reuse and wanted smaller than 16gb for point and shoot cameras. A Panasonic GF5 for its charger and spare battery, will sell body on with no bits. Finally, a Billingham 225 bag that matches my Hadley Pro both being Sage green.

PS Had my CL for decades and I think you'll see why. That and the 90mm lens cover a lot of pictures and take up little space.
Finally finished my test roll so could put a battery in to check the meter, and lo, not merely does it work, but it corresponds to the readings from the meter in my R7 (with a tiny difference). I love the parallax adjustment in the viewfinder, and the Summicron 40mm is really fine (bokeh a bit so so). I found it very difficult to get a good contrast on the patch inside with the 90mm.

It's a very handy and enjoyable camera. I think I got a bargain!

Watching my beer evaporate in the heat in Wetzlar. Kodak Tmax400 at either 400 or 800, same developing time.

Hi,

Wow! A happy ending to a story...

What I like about the CL is that, once you've got both lenses, there's no more temptation to buy lots more and worry about having the right one. And they are very nice lenses.

Thanks David - it is in lovely condition, almost mint, the lens with original hood (and filter held in by it). The Leica store made it clear there was no warranty, which is fair enough, and priced it accordingly. I need to explore the 90mm f4, my 90mm Summicron f2 is one of those immense ones and it didn't really work well. Now to test out my Leicaflex!

That looks seriously nice, Charles! I've long harboured thoughts of getting a CL, but I've successfully ignored the idea (to date ). I could really do without you posting pictures of a lovely example, such as this.

Enjoy!... and post some results, when you have them.

Well it would be a lovely example if it didn't have tiny bits of dust on it...

Mainly been using the 'flex SL2 today (I've only one 625 battery adapter) but the CL has been out and about with a colour film loaded.

One from my first test roll. I wanted the people as silhouettes to emphasise the half life of hanging around at airports. The 40mm Summicron is up there with the 50mm for non-bokeh things.

Apart from the dust I can find no blemishes at all. For all the b******s out there about lesser build quality, it is actually an extremely well built thing. The black chrome finish is as good as my Leicaflex SL2.

A Leica Battery 14 464....the three I have since the camera came out have taken a dump. When this one gives up the ghost it might be time to retire the M8 which I might add has never had a problem.

I waited a loooong time, but I just bought my first Leica.
A 1961 M3 in decent, user condition.

Leather's been replaced, strap lugs probably should be, slow speeds are a bit sluggish but optics are completely clear, there are no signs of separation in the finder and the mechanics seem completely correct other than the sluggish 1 and 1/2 second speeds.

Thanks to a very generous loan of a 50mm Summicron-M 50/2 ASPH from my brother-in-law I was able to shoot my first roll through it two days ago and I hope to develop it later this morning.

Now I need to go lens shopping ('cause there's no way he's letting me keep that 'cron!).
I'm going to hate every minute of that!

I bought a Rolleiflex SL26 manual. Click on the pic for full sized photo:

It doesn't mention how to switch the meter on, so I presume it's always on.

A FED 3. Seems to work, except the shutter speed dial seems to be mis-aligned. It will do fast and slow shutter speeds, but not when lined up with the proper number.

Trying to find a fix or just learn to live with it.

At least for the version of FED 3 I have (a FED 3b - tall and flat upper case, but if more distinctions than FED 3a - the view finder part sticks up - and FED 3b is needed, I don't know those) the shutter speed dial only show the correct speed when the shutter is armed and not before.

Is that how yours work too? Or is the shutter speed knob set wrong (there seems to be a small screw on mine that could possibly be used to fix such a problem)?
My FED 2, FED 3 and Zorki 4 from a long time ago.

Yah, it's wrong when it's cocked.

The previous owner was probably changing shutter speeds when uncocked and it got misaligned?

Ok. I'm a bit worried that it might be worse than that, though, but I really do not remember if moving the shutter speed when uncocked would mess the mechanism up or just be annoying since you don't know what you have set for speed. Perhaps move this part to the FSU area and see if someone more expert can help.
