Show us your M240 pics.

Like it or not Leica will eventually leave the CCD sensor of the ME and M9 behind and while I'm a big admirer of what the M8, M9 etc can do their latest flagship is CMOS ... and that seems to be the path for the future.

Some think the CCD is better despite its limitations ... having never owned an M9 I can't say so show us your pics from the new kid in town and celebrate the fact that at least someone is still making a full frame digital rangefinder.

Kind of like a bunch of politicians looking for a small campaign donation Or maybe I've been paying too much attention to ICAC [our Independent Commission Against Corruption, for those not from around these parts].

That's the best show in town at the moment, at least here in Sydney. I'd almost think it a guilty pleasure, except I'm rather less guilty than most on their witness list...

Pairing the M240 with a 35 Summicron Pre-ASPH. The "King of Bokeh" plays nice with the CMOS.

Johann, may I ask you what post-processing you do to obtain such results ? They do look like film! - very nice.

This is the first pic using an adapter on the M. The lens is a very beaten up Zuiko 85mm f2 wide open. Extremely easy to focus with the EVF ... this is one hell of a camera IMO.

Simplified steps:

1. Shoot in DNG
2. Develop in ACR
3. Get the white balance right (might sound counterintuitive for B/W, but this will help later on)
4. Convert to greyscale in ACR
5. Use the color sliders in ACR to get the "film tones" right. For a Tri-X look, drop the reds and greens a bit, but raise the yellows and orange levels. Other colors, adjust to taste.
6. Adjust whites and blacks to taste.
7. Open in Photoshop
8. Add grain and some character using Alien Skin Exposure
9. Final (and crucial) step: Add an Exposure adjustment level. Adjust Offset and Gamma. A very very slight offset will give it the scanned film look.
10. Enjoy!

Hello
good afternoon
Can you tell me the meaning of ACR 3?
It is a program?
It refers to Adobe Lightroom?

Thank you

ACR = Adobe Camera Raw. I think it has a similar (if not identical) engine as Lightroom.
