As others have shown, the Canon can be quite sharp even wide open.

Leica M5, Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM, Ilford HP5+.

Haven't been able to pinpoint what conditions create this bokeh, but I like it.

Leica M5, Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM, Kodak 400TX.

It's a bit larger than other LTM 50mm lenses, but it balances nicely on the M5. Then again, the M5 is also a bit larger than other Leica Ms.

My glass looks quite free of haze. I'd say yes, this is how this lens looks wide open, and so was taken this new pic. But then again of course I only have experience with this, one copy of the Canon LTM 1.4/50.
