What ever happened to that retro Yashica GSN nonsense ( or what ever it was) of a year ago?

The digiFilm Camera Y35 camera does not appear on the Crawford Lane website.

Normal. They have been releasing false information throughout the updates of the project.

It’s hard for established and experienced companies making cameras to stay afloat. But you will always have a bunch of dreamers with no money promising the moon, and underestimating costs by a factor of 10.

So what’s new.

I’ve just received an email with the following link to their website:

https://pixii.fr

I have to admit that I’m tempted.

Radical doesn't sounds good these days. But lets hope it is for radically low price.

Just looking at the sample camera it appears to be well designed and built, and yet probably made from modern materials, so it's not going to be some Leica hunk. I would hope that it has another way to get the photos out besides WiFi or Bluetooth. "Internal Memory" doesn't sound like removable memory like an SD card.

Perhaps they found a source for the M8.2 sensor, CV rangefinder/shutter/guts and are putting it together some place with good food.......

I suspect that the biggest challenge for the camera will be battery life. They claim that it uses an FPGA internally, which is inherently less power consumption friendly than a dedicated ASIC. Then there is the question of what from the description sounds like an always-on wireless connection to a phone to give a distributed system architecture.

It is an interesting project - I hope that they succeed.

Good points. No LCD to managed or power should make it a lot simpler. A lot depends on their approach to sending pictures to the device. I'm not sure if there is a low power heart-beat to just keep the connection alive or if there is a buffer in the camera that would flush when you make a connection? Lots of different options all depends on their user stories/requirements/design.

It will be fun to watch what comes out.

The power draw of an FPGA vs ASIC is minimal compared to not having an LCD. No need for a constant connection to the smartphone.
