Leica M5 and CL with CV and ZM 21mm?

Can't seem to find an answer - will the zm and CV wides run into the meter arm? If it doesn't, will it meter?

Thanks

On the CL:

No

Yes

But I'm starting to think I should just leave the battery out, and use my eyeballs instead.

I use a 21f4 Skopar with my M5 and everything works just fine. It is such a small lens it looks kind of funny on the M5 but what the hell! It works.

Try a CLE instead, no meter arm to interfere with the lens. Meter cell is in the bottom of the mount area picking up light reflected off the shutter curtains.

Thanks - I'm just worried about CLE reliability
Maybe the Hexar RF?

Hexar RF? Who is servicing it?

Why not just Bessa, it is supported by Cameraquest.

Hexar RF and CLE are both very reliable; I have two of each. I've had one Hexar serviced by Precision Camera in CT. The biggest service issue with the CLE has been dust accumulation under the shutter speed dial, pretty easy to deal with.

The Bessas never really appealed to me. Good to know about the CLE and Hexar, Doug, the flashing LED issue worried me
Thanks

Woah, this is news to me. Might want to pick up a Hexar RF now, I thought they weren't serviceable.

Best to inquire to check their current ability to repair Konica, as my experience was several years ago. I don't see Konica repairs mentioned on their website now.

Does your Hexar have focus issues? The disputed m mount comparability was never very conclusive

Apparently Konica did address that issue later in production. As I understand it, it was never a problem for most users. Apparently in the original design Konica set the back-focus distance from a different plane than Leica, not much difference but some noticed it! Both of my Hexar RFs were made after Konica changed to the standard measure method.

There is a possible issue with the CL and large lenses

One issue I've had with my Leica CL is that the with really "rotund" lenses, the focusing ring blocks part or all of the rangefinder window (the small one). This effectively negates focusing using the rangefinder or at least impedes it. I have a CV 35mm F1.2 and put one of those rubber ring tabs on it and I can't use it on the Leica CL for reason mentioned above.

I've seen the CV 21 and it looks really big. Might be a non issue but thought I'd point it out!

So, which 21 are you thinking of? The 21f1.8 is large but the 21f4 Skopar is minute and works great on the M5.
