Photogs / Photo Exhibits This is the place to discuss a particular Photographer (work, style, life, whatever), as well as to post Gallery and Museum Photo Exhibitions and your own impressions of them. As we march on in this new digital world, it is often too easy to forget about the visual importance of the photographic print, as well as their financial importance to the photographer. It is also interesting to remember that some guy named Gene Smith shot with lenses that many lens test reading "never had a picture published in their life" amateurs would turn up their their noses at, as being "unacceptable."

Exhibit and book release

Hey everyone,

Just found out I am going to have an exhibit in June at Rangefinder Gallery 300 W Superior in Chicago. Opening will be on Friday June 1.

Now all I have to do is print, mount, mat and frame the exhibit and hope the books are finished by then because I hope it will be a book release exhibit. I am in full on panic mode. I hope that a few of you from the area can make it. I will post an official invite as soon as it is all ready to go.

The book and the exhibit title is "Streets, Alleys and Other Urban Observations"

I plan on seeing the show, but I can't make it on 6/1. How long is the show going to last?
I am a great admirer of your work here, at RFF.
Congratulations and the best of luck on your endeavors.

I’ve got an exhibition opening on June 1st as well and I’m hoping to have 3 blurb books finished for people to browse so I share your anxiety!

Your book looks intriguing. I hope you will post a link here when it is available.

Hi Chris congrats and good luck on your exhibit.

Yes after he opening I hope to have it available on blurb as well as Amazon. I should have books for the opening. The problem is always price. I had talked with a publisher and they wanted to cut cots by thinner pages. I have proline pearl 140 pound paper. It will be more expensive but the print quality is worth it to me.

It’ll be great, I’m sure—the images, the prints, the people. Wish I could be there, and I hope you get plenty of photog-colleagues there, as well as tasteful people with money! Please let us know more about the book when you can.

Show was a success. The small gallery was absolutely packed so if I didn't get a chance to say hi to anyone from here that came I apologize. I was truly humbled by the turnout. We brought way more books than I ever thought we could sell and we ran out of books. Sold several prints and I got to see several people that I hadn't seen in a very long time. For all of this I am truly grateful...

That’s great to hear! And deserved. Be sure to pimp the books in a special/separate thread, &/or offer them in the classifieds.
