Optics Theory - This forum is aimed towards the TECHNICAL side of photographic OPTICS THEORY. There will be some overlap by camera/manufacturer, but this forum is for the heavy duty tech discussions. This is NOT the place to discuss a specific lens or lens line, do that in the appropriate forum. This is the forum to discuss optics or lenses in general, to learn about the tech behind the lenses and images. IF you have a question about a specific lens, post it in the forum about that type of camera, NOT HERE.

I find myself enjoying almost all of these, the “good” ones and the “no good” ones fairly equally. Authoritative voices tell me that the fascination with bokeh is a nasty fad perpetuated on the photographic world by unsanctified twits, but I cannot help being drawn in to most of these shots, swirly or creamy. Mea culpa.

I sold one of those lenses for something like $860.00 a while back.

I kick myself as around 2008 I had 5 copies that I bought in an eBay lot as it was about the same price as buying one.
I sold 3 for $75ea shipped and gave one to a friend on another forum.
Fortunately I have one left.

Thanks, that was with the rangefinder using the dedicated 50mm Amedeo adapter. Focus is very accurate.

Well, it was passé until you revived it. I was told the Pentax 6x7 105/2.4 is the ultimate bokeh lens for maximum background obliteration, so of course I had to have it.

Great framing. 👌
I'm sure I would have included more of the Tuk Tuk, resulting in an inferior picture.

^^ thank you Mike. Real beautiful flower photo, great color and very smooth and soothing ( bokeh ) background!

^ thank you Ricoh. When I took this I was fairly new to using manual lenses ( besides when I was young and into photography late 1970s, early 1980s ), a real Takumar fan and mostly using a 1.4/50mm Takumar on APS-C, effectively having 75mm.
This "limitation" turned out to be a good exercise and experience concerning composition.
When I took the Tuk Tuk there was sunset and I could not ignore the background.

Actually it was @maryland_fotos that ended the drought

The recent contributions are excellent compositions that don’t solely rely on bokeh, great work!
