I do not know if this fits your definition but I always find it to be interesting how old and new buildings fit together in the urban landscape, especially when reflected by yet more buildings.

Thanks Paul

As for age , I would guess about mid 1800s its a nursing home now , but in its time would have been quite impressive. As you can see it has what are called Dutch gables . The idea for the design of these gables was brought to england by Dutch bricklayers probably well before this house was built.

The Shard as seen from the Tower of London. The Tower is 11th Century, the Shard is 21st Century, I doubt that the Shard will be around in a thousand years.

Some from my home town:

This is called "Fallturm" (drop tower), a scientific building, that is essentially a very hight tube, that can be evacuated to high quality vacuum. Then they throw a capsule from the ground using a catapult up to just a little below the roof and and let it fall down again. All perfectly straight without touching the walls. This gives them about 9 seconds of micro gravitation for experiments, that otherwise must be done in space. The cone on the top is an office space. Nice view...

Not a space ship. Its a science museum, just a few minutes away from the Fallturm:

Office Building at night - the company rents apartments. Can you imagine what they look like...:

This is an old water tower building under monument protection. People call it "Umgedrehte Kommode" ("upside-down chest of drawers")
