Wonderful!

My first car was a 1969 bug that I bought new! I was worried about making the payments as each month was $56.00!

Had it on highway one in Florida and California.

Please indulge me for a moment. This is my Bug story.

Twenty some odd years ago, I was in Grad School and was awarder a one year internship, but unfortunately it was in Cleveland, Ohio, and I only owned a motorcycle. Cleveland gets snow pretty much every day from Oct 1st until late April (Lake effect). So I needed a car and had no money. I found this old Bug in a field where it had been crashed, rusted, horses ate out the padding in the seats, windows broke, but the guy only wanted $15, so I figured I could fix it up, and I had three weeks before my internship started. It was a real adventure and cemented my love for the original Volkswagen Beetle, a car that anyone with basic hand tools can completely rebuild.

That last picture is my niece, sitting in the finished Bug, she graduated from college herself three years ago.

Best,
-Tim

Love the bus - great for getting to hospital if you are in no particular hurry!

Assuming the frame edge treatment was added...if this were shot on sheet film we would be looking at the emulsion side, in which case it would read backwards - unless of course it was from a contact duplicate. Shows how old I am. We used to crop all that cool stuff off - now we add it back.

Yes, just a bit of fun to brighten up a mobile phone shot. The VW belongs to the landlord of a local pub.

In Sayulita.
I only had my Phone with me. The uh.... "music" coming from this love machine was quite inspiring. The "singer" She had a several octaves of range that's for sure.

That top one is really nice. A 'Panda' VW, now all the owner needs is a Panda Leica to go with it.

Thanks. The top and bottom picture are actually the same car. I replaced the mirrors and running boards amongst other things.
