Lynn, Rod,

I havent re-read this entire thread, so you've probably already said, but is/are your Summitar(s) coated or uncoated? I'm trying to figure out what I can reasonably expect from my 1938 version, and work out the best processing (best for me, that is).
Nice work here.

Larry, I have two, my goto one is a 1950 10 blade coated, the second a 1951 10 blade that I had the coating removed.
My last two posts are with #1 coated
Both have a yellow 0 fitted

Whoa love this look of that one. Summitar creates a really good atmosphere for that kind or portrait. Bokeh is always kinda "spiral" which enhace the main subject. At this that MHO.

Regards

I am circling the Summitar market for a lens to accompany my '49 IIIc.
Somewhere in the last 15 pages there probably were comments about the different number of aperture blades and how that affects things. What should I be looking at in terms of an early '50's model, numerated in feet.

Recently picked up a Summitar (my third over the years) for my Leotax Elite. Always one of my favorites-- this one has some haze but seems to shoot OK. Every year, I try to get Cherry Blossom pictures...

Thank you!

I've been trying for a long time to get that shot - blue sky, puffy clouds, blossoms at the right point of bloom -- the Summitar has that 3-D punch "Leica Glow" rendering somehow here. You don't always see it - but some shots look like they are from the 1940's/1950's.

I've posted this one over in the uncoated lens thread but it could go in this thread too. M2, uncoated Summitar (1939), Kodak 400 Max:

The recently posted photos by B. Toews and Bingley show that the Summitar can be sharp and contrasty when it wants to be (presumably clear glass and stopped down).

It really is a lens with 2 characters - soft, dreamy, glowing when opened up

As well as crisp and sharp as a razor when stopped down
