I had John do a rigid Summicron V1 for me years ago, and I was absolutely delighted with the results.

Like a new lens, really.

Waiting for a Nikon FG coming this Friday, will be happy to receive it. I have wanted one for a couple years. Hope too also find a Pentax ME or MX also for the size. Will use the Nikkor 50 AIS, f1.8 I already have. Hope to try it out this week-end.

I finally found an OM-1 with a working meter! And it's the non-MD original version. The prism has a bit of the foam rot, but if it gets to be too aggravating, I can always swap out the one in the junk OM-1 MD I have. Last camera body I'll be chasing down for a while.

Just bought a Nikkor 10.5cm f2.5 LTM with Leica brand M adapter and 35mm Summicron V1 from a friend. The Nikkor is in superb condition with hood and Finder and the Summicron is very nice condition with excellent glass and a few minor marks on the chrome. The 35 went out today for a full CLA at Youxin Ye's. The lens has some haze and the focusing helix is very stiff. Mr Ye should have no problem putting it in 1st class shape. My wife also gave me a new ZM 50 Planar last week for my birthday. What a sweet wife!

I remember your delight way back when back in a thread about your Rigid.

My front element displayed no "cleaning marks" but showed tiny pin prick holes in the front coating with a super bright LED flashlight.

John's turnaround time was remarkably fast. I guess I hit the timing right where he was close to filling that vacuum deposition chamber.

My version 1 Rigid was already a very clean sample.

Topcor was made by Topcon, a postwar mfgr of lenses, later part of Beseler. Think Topcon Super D. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topcon

Two Nikons (F-801s and Df) and 6 lenses (AF 1.8/28, 24-120, 28-85, 80-200, 75-300; MF 2.8/60-120).

Hi,

Is the printing on the box cap in black or "gold"?
I'm hoping the two have always been together and so I can sort out this minor detail. It's like the red paint on the FILCA cans...

A chrome 43/1.9 Pentax-L with 43/50 finder, box, LTM adapter and caps.

This lens is kinda perfect with my 0.85 MP with the 75mm frames stripped out. the 43mm frames are the entire frame so the external VF'er isn't needed.

Cal, I think you will like this lens a lot, it's brilliant. And on the rare side, especially in silver finish. Only 2000 of these (800 silver, 1200 black) were made. The initial retail price in Japan was about $1385. The lens shows a bit of barrel distortion.

Doug,

Rarity is always nice, but I think I will love the enduring build quality as much.

I think I got a good deal since I got all the extras. Paid $995.00 which includes domestic shipping.

BTW I have a big chrome lens fetish. LOL.

Well, mine is the "common" black finish! Got it from an RFF member in Canada. Encouraging to see the value holding up too.

BTW, one other tasty tidbit about this is the rumor that Pentax contracted with Cosina to supply the barrel to fit their glass, Cosina being good at small production runs...

Doug,

If you go on EBAY it seems that the stockpile of available 43/1.9 Pentax-L's seem to be in Japan. This means there will always be a bit of a premium for higher shipping and currency exchange. It seems that Pentax-L's in North America are a rare commodity and that North American versions will always have somewhat of a small premium built in due to scarcity.

From another posting of yours you suggest that perhaps the Pentax-L might have ASPH glass, and I would agree that the signature is very similar to the Pentax 75/2.8 AL which is a lens I already own. I think the 75/2.8 AL is the best glass for the Pentax 67, especially on a Pentax 67 II with AE prism.

I saw somewhere on the internet that suggests that the chrome versions were assembled in Japan, while the black versions were assembled in Vietnam.

I expect delivery Wednesday, and I was lucky to find one available domestically. Last night I was looking at how the 135mm frames work with my 0.85 VF'er on my MP. It seems likely that I will use a 35mm LTM adapter to exploit the 135mm frames for a guide to follow "the rule of thirds." The same relationship between 28mm and 90mm exists that I really like for composition.

Well, it is hip.

Just bought a Pentax MX, to replace mine that had had one too many falls. Bit of an impulse buy but for £25 I hopefully can't go too far wrong.

After a huge sell-off of my entire Canon system (save for a couple lenses I kept for the GH4) and a big purge of excess camera bags I made the single biggest change to my photographic equipment I've ever done.

Bought a used M240 from Tamarkin, a Zeiss 35mm f/2 off Facebook, a Zeiss 50mm f/2 from a Leica dealer in Portugal, and I treated myself to a Filson + Magnum Harvey messenger.

Thankfully I still had money left over to put back into my bank account. I think I'm set for a long long time. My last halo camera has been obtained and I'm finally committing to rangefinders.
