125mm f/2.5 Hektor....

Just picked this beauty up a couple of weeks ago. I think it's such a brilliant study in design:

Funny thing when I got it, it was focusing really weird. I couldn't get it to focus properly at infinity, and shots wide open looked like this:

Looks like was taken with a 1930's 73mm Hektor at f/1.9. I sent it off to the Camera Wiz himself, Frank Marshman, and he went over everything and cleaned it up as best he could. However, he wasn't so sure about the focus issue - at first he couldn't figure out what the problem might be. But - being the Camera Wiz that he is - he thought that maybe someone before him might have installed the rear element in backwards. He tried that solution:

Well that certainly did the trick! Plus it now focuses perfectly at infinity. Of course, the pictures are now going to be a lot more boring than when the rear element was backwards

The picture with the rear element backwards looks as if it is taken with a Dallmeyer Super Six!

Nice result after the adjustment, Vince.

Had the same issue with my Argus K, where someone had flipped the rear element. After correcting it the images looked much better....now I still have to hunt down an annoying light leak.

Now I just need to make some interesting photos with this lens! It's a bit of an odd focal length, so for me a challenge. Hopefully I can get out of my backyard garden!
