It says it will have best-in-class full HD video and IQ.

Best-in-class status (that will only last a couple months before one of the other players releases something much better) at a 150-250% price premium?

I think that pretty much says what this camera is all about: status at a premium.

With you. If they are going to be consistent across their product lines, for it to be an "M", standing for Messsucher, it would have to utilize a rangefinder focussing system. Should Leica not be planning an RF system, it could stand for "M" Mount. Where's the mount?

Could be a good mockup to drive traffic.

I hope it could be some form of a digital CL, but with fixed lens, maybe full frame, to go up straight against the X100 series, at a 2k+ price-range.

lol, what a bad move by Leica.
3.4- ? really, not to mention all the other fails.

Fuji X-E1 kills this, and is way cheaper.

...I hope that is fake because it its almost Lunar status in terms of innovation. That would be a face slap with respect to all the possibilities available to them.

Huge disappointment if they actually released something like this. Is Leica so out of touch with its customers, or does it know the true moneymakers too well?

People online everywhere are enraged by this fake image and what it stands for it seems. I've never seen so many people get so upset over something that is not real or verified.

If it were real, Leica would have one heck of a bad seller on their hands.

I'm leaning towards fake too, not sure why, but it just does not seem right to me. I just don't see them doing a slow zoom really.

It's absolutely a fake. Even Leica knows no one would buy a fixed lens camera at premium prices that is that slow. I am hearing it will be a changeable lens system that is AF. My dealer told me to start buying Contax G lenses several months ago. We'll see but they know what a bust the M-E and the X2 have been.....I say this as someone who owned an X2 and loved it.

Why on earth would they rather not release it as new interchangeable lens system with 23mm f/2.8 (from X2) and this 18-46 f/3.5-6.4 lens. It would totally make sense for some people and wouldn't look like such a complete joke price-wise AND you'll be able to re-use the lens with different generations of bodies.

The "leaked" picture and specs are believable to me, though a great disappointment. But, Leica may be responding to what they perceive as demand by some of their clients for a zoom version of the X2. Imagine someone coming into a Leica store and looking at the M and X2. The X2 doesn't have a zoom and the M is far too expensive for them. The sales person pulls out the mini-M which sort of looks like an M but comes with a zoom and has the image quality of the X2. This is all probably some nonsense but I see Leica thinking they are filling a niche.

Ok! Now the picture makes sense. Just wait for the accessory optical finder shown mounted on a IIIc, available in chrome, black, or wartime grey.

That is not true. Anyone with photoshop skills can fake almost anything if they put their mind to it.

I could easily fake the light, highlights, shadows and all of that if I put my mind to it. And if my rusty skills could do the job then one of the 10s of thousands of people out there who have skills well beyond my own could and would be more then capable of it. Just sayin. I never believe an image until it is proven to be 100% legit.

Well, it's either a fake or a total failure. I would prefer the first one.

And if someone were to go through so much work, why use f6 as long-end aperture in the zoom range, I mean that f6.4 is beyond the imaginative realm of any faker.

f6.4 in the long end of zoom, in this day and age, only Leica.

FWIW I've seen people online go to great lengths to do something that I find quite silly.

And you noticed the aperture thing, so someone else could have had the same idea.

If it is real, so be it. But I stand by my call that it's fake. Maybe it's close, maybe it's completely not even close. Who knows.

Not many Leica lenses that have the writing concave and convex, around the lens. Are there any modern lenses with the writing like that? All mine have convex writing the whole way around. That makes this seem dubious to me.

Edit: With Google image search, I see even the Panasonic cameras have convex writing the whole way around the lens. All I can find is a couple old lenses, back when it was cm instead of mm in lens measurement, that have both concave and convex writing. Everything newer is all convex.

A overpriced point and shoot camera.........another wasted effort by Leica, why don't they just stop making all the junk and sell out to the Japanese, then you'll see some REAL Leica's getting made again, Germany's lost it, Leica is just a stupid red dot, not a useful camera tool anymore for the modern photographer *sigh*

I've given up on Leica ever since the end of the M6 0.85 TTL ......all the camera's since then have been dogs.

A compact *Retro Designed* Screw Mount looking camera with a M mount/Full Frame sensor/No preview screen and all manual controls........that's what the mini should be!

I cross my fingers and hope that Sony comes out with a FF/Fixed lens camera with a Carl Zeiss Sonnar f1.5/50 on it and my digital camera searching days are over.........!
