Repainting Summilux 50/1.4 ver2 in Black Paint

Possible? Who will do this for me? I have emailed Youxin and he said he will for a hefty price, but nothing unreasonable. I want to know though if he will be stripping the chrome and repainting, or just painting over the chrome.

Does anyone have any experience in this that could help?

If it is the one that appears in all of your pictures of your MP, please don't touch it. You have one of the nicest looking pairings of camera and lens that I have seen.

Why not just trade against a black one ? I for one wouldn't mind much, if the performance would be the same. I use my v2 mostly on a chrome M3. And my filters are chrome, too.

The newer black ones are much, much more expensive. Especially these days. I was lucky enough to get this lux paired with an M4 for a really good price a few years ago before leica prices skyrocketed. I do like the chrome on black look, but ... I dunno.

Another question. Would the same repainter be able to paint the chrome part of the xooim hood to black as well? I know this is unorthodox but I love that hood and it wouldn't work in chrome on a black lens.

PS I know how silly this is, but spending the amount we all do on leica gear is silly too isn't it?

Sure, the chrome part of the XOOIM hood is easy to paint JHP

But stripping it of the chrome? I realize it would be easy to paint over the chrome...

thanks for the help.

It seems like a shame to have the chrome lens repainted black. Personally, I like the chrome lens on a black body, and the Chrome Summilux with the XOOIM hood is such a beauty. I am in the same camp as Ferider, trade for a black. If you are set on having this done, ask Yue Xin if he has experience repainting Summiluxes, and if he first de-chromes.

I had Shintaro repaint an M3 for me some years ago, and he did an excellent job.

Isn't the black anodized when buying a lens?

If it were me, I would worry small or large chips or flakes of paint could end up somewhere they shouldn't like the inside of the camera.

My 2 cents.

I have a black version E43. I prefer a silver chrome lens as all my other leica are all silver chrome, although most of my bodies are black. So I bought another silver E43 here two days ago.

Maybe you can try a Want-Trade? I am sure someone is interested in an exchange.

Would YOU be interested in a swap?

Or anyone else for that matter. I would obviously pay cash on top as mine isn't mint.

Pity, your thread is 2 days late. I would swap with you if it was two days ago. Now I have a 1350USD bill to pay.

Did you see the new listing for a black Summilux in the classifieds? (BTW, no relationship to the seller)
