As you say ,now that its morphed into a general photography site it seems to have brought with it a greater divergence of opinion .

I become that guy and what has really worked to prevent it is to limit my time here, because great photos rarely happen while you are on forums posturing. The other thing is to ignore the gear posturing by those who have zip for talent and for me especially, the threads that end up bashing pros.

Forums are tough, you can't be candid like you can in person and the fact that you even can be moderated makes it one of the toughest means in which to communicate in modern history...it's fairly dysfunctional which is why I try to limit my participation.

It's a great resource for information, buying and selling gear, etc. that is what keeps me coming back...

When the good contributors leave, this place suffers immensely.
Yes ... agreed Chris leaving was a big loss to the forum.

This place would be so much nicer if we just had mods that were nice.. I wonder which mod is considered the best mod?

Cheers,
Dave

OK, enough small talk. Time to go troll some threads and start a black vs. chrome poll...

Polls, trolls, and @holes...

Sorry if I ever fell into the latter two with anyone. It was either a topic *I think I feel* passionate about, or I was just drunk.

P.S. I miss Mr. Crawford too.

It's far worse other places and besides, just do like I do and if it gets to you, bail for a few months and get back to making great pictures...

Love the site. I'm computer semi-literate but was always able to upload images... but during the past year there's been a sea change, and despite consulting the usual on-site help sources I can do nothing except post a link to my photobucket page. Any way to make the process simpler?
