How on earth do you figure an alpinist is a Submariner homage? i mean, granted, they both have hands and a date window and go on the wrist, but the case shape, bezel, dial, numerals, indicies, date window, strap, all of it is different.

[quote=zhang xk;2703364]As a co-founder, and one of the moderators of the WUS Chinese mechanical watches forum, I have hundreds of these vintage Chinese watches made since late 1950's. The two shown were made in early 1960's and 1970's in Beijing and Shanghai respectively. I actively collected them for a few years since 2005 for historical documentation, and most gained value since then.

Mr. Zhang, Thank you for posting these watches...

China has been making watches for over 60 yrs (twice longer than Swatch), 'no respect' are from some/most western watch nuts...inside most of all those Swiss made watch at least 50% of their parts are made in China...

Talking

Let's see some tokei 時計, wristwatch

few yrs back, not rich, know only casio and seiko, i want to have rolex, tag heuer, omega, tissot, only Swiss Made,
now i can afford them, knows a little bit more about watches...well, i am not buying them...

longines have some good looking stuff...

friendly priced, 'Quartz!' watches under one thousand dollars, well if their ambassador (simon baker) change to brad pitt (he's with Tag Heuer), longines price will not be the same...

piaget anyone? Polo S? It'll set u back...

$8,220, u want a crono? pls add $2,000, $10,200...yes! 'u get what u pay for'(??!) (the green emoji should be here)

in Los Angeles reporting

continue reporting;

some watch elitist, do not amen to American watches, timex, invicta, stuhrling, shinola...(did you hear about the very first automatic watch from Shinola, 'Lake Erie', priced at $2.2K? it's made in Detroit from foreign; mostly China, parts)..

I think Stuhrling watches is very interesting, i was impressed by their bold design, i don't think it's a homage watch...
my stuhrling, American designed...i think

oops, watch is upside down...

this' been w me for almost...24...hours...my 4th Sub homages, to get a feel of the real one before you know, spending US$10.5K (green dial, Taipei price) for the 'real' one

42mm Sinobi, China made

if i want to get real close to Rolex, Steinhart (Germany), Marc & Sons (Germany) should be my next buy...
Phoibos 007's quality is matching that of both Steinhart and Marc & Sons w 1/2 the price...so Phoibos next!
