My wife had given me a gift card for Barnes & Noble last fall, but I finally found something they had I found interesting: Paris Changing: Revisiting Eugene Atget's Paris
, by Christopher Rauschenberg
It's interesting to see how the same scenes have changed since the same scenes were first photographed by Atget. Sometimes the buildings/landscapes look worse for wear. Sometimes they have been made to look even more beautiful that during Atget's time. And even more than one might expect, there are many scenes that have had little changes occur over this near 100 year time span.
I'm about to embark on a similar project of my own, which will be part of my contribution to The Kodachrome Project
. This summer I'll be reshooting the same night time street scenes I took as a child (with Kodachrome) over 30 years ago of downtown Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
