Leica IIIc Stepper with 'Germany' engraving?

Just now I saw a Leica IIIc Stepper in the classifieds that has a 378632 serial and a red curtain, but it also has a 'Germany' engraving on the top plate.

Were those wartime cameras ever exported? And if so, where to and was that during the war? Or is this a remarkable camera?

Wouldn't a replacement cover be the newer, 'stepless' cover?
