No more photo linking from Flickr?

I've tried to link a photo into one of the RFF threads today, and I no longer find the URL line - only links to big social networks and email are available.
Am I missing something or is this a new Flickr policy?

Click on the white arrow (right hand side) next to an image, select "HTML embed" (below social media icons), copy URL and paste here.

I've just checked; looking in Firefox, clicked on the curvy arrow share button, Flickr offered BBCode by default (that is what I always use for RFFM) with a drop-down menu to select the size.
Agreed, the way they present it has varied and no doubt will again. They used to offer HTML as an option as well, which I don't see now.

EDIT:-
I'm looking at the individual picture in a new tab in the firefox browser ...

That's interesting; from what system (desktop/smartphone/tablet/browser/view) do you see this ?

EDIT 2:-
It gets more confusing ! Flickr is rendered differently on variant platforms even within the 'desktop world', so I need to further qualify what I wrote.

In my first posting above I reported what was rendered on the Linux (tarball 'generic' version) Firefox 40 - the HTML option is not labelled explictly (it used to be at one time). Now the button for it is labelled 'embed' only. Also the social media shares are a level down under another 'share' button.

... Now I've brought up the Windows Firefox 40. Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, and Yahoo Mail social media shares are shown, and both HTLM and BBCode modes - just as described above by Bille.

I am running this on Safari and I do not have a PRO account - the BBCode option has disappeared and I can only see the canned links to social networks plus email. It looks like they are starting to restrict the linking.

Who'd be brave enough to browse the Internet using IE, Safari or Chrome instead of Firefox ?

I was able to link a flickr photo here, and I have no account.

However it is actually a violation of flickr guidelines, they say there must be a link back.

Random photo from this link: https://www.flickr.com/search/?text=...20gran%20sport

I just went to "view all sizes," and right clicked for the URL. Used Google Chrome. Quick and easy.

See:
https://www.flickr.com/help/photos/#2265887

With a standard account, if your photos are set "able to be downloaded", you can get the link. If you have disabled downloading, the link is not available.

With a Pro account, you always have the links available.

And, oh yes, they've broken their already f**ked up Javascript even further ... It became incompatible with Safari on iOS some time ago, now it's incompatible with Safari on OS X. Firefox still works correctly.

(In general, Firefox is just as much a mess as every other browser, and just as insecure.)

I did it on the OP's account, but it requires going to "inspect element" in Google Chrome, and grabbing the link. Easy but not obvious to the average user.

I find Flickr a poor place to keep photos which are not for the public, Google drive is better for pure storage, and sharing. Google is very easy to use, I display all the PDFs for the Nikon Historical Society there. https://drive.google.com/folderview?...&ddrp=1&hl=en#

I don't have the Pro account. Here's what I do.

-Open up the photo in the browser
-Click "View all sizes" on the Download menu
-Open up the image size you want to link
-Right click the image and choose "View Image"
-The image URL should be like "farm1.staticflickr.com/....jpg", copy the URL
-Place the URL between [img] and[/img] tags

Like this:

I only post imAges to Flickr that are for public consumption. Why else would I use it?

I thought a lot of people use Flickr privately, no? Can it not be used for clients to look at? Admittedly not a Flickr user except to mostly look at bicycle photos, and there are a lot of them!

I have about 20 university blogs on Google, and many thousands of images linked to those blogs. I have never had a moment of trouble with Google.

I guess they scan my email, I guess someone scans everything we do? I always had vision of kids at every ISP laughing their heads off reading email.

Yes I use it privately and only choose for a small percentage of images to be public.
Actually with seemingly unliited space, I have auto-synced my iPhone and eye-fi cards to flickr. All my images go there privately.
It's become an absolutely perfect back up for someone who journals everything with images.
All my landscape architecture and construction projects go straight up there and are organized by date without any action. It's a gem of a work tool!

Right - set a photo to private and it can't be discovered by browsing your account. You can however use the 'Show All Sizes' page to grab a link to a jpg. That link can be sent to people and seen by others.

Yes, the same problem here, on IE 11. Flickr only links to social media.

Insert image?

Interesting. I do all that with locally connected hard drives and LR; I only post to the 'net what I want seen on the 'net.

The bbc and html badges are missing from the share tab in safari.
You can still insert the url with [img][\img].

Hopefully just a growing pain.
Flikr needs to settle on a format. We've been in beta since her majesty MM took over yahoo. It's bs.

I agree with Brian on this. The easiest for me is:
  • Select the photo in FLICKR
  • Click on the download icon
  • Select "View all sizes"
  • Select the size you want to link to
  • In IE11, right click, Properties and copy the link. In Firefox, right click and Copy Image Location

It's nice because it works everywhere whithout another thought.
Mostly for my work things or to remember nd document items and issues.

All the iphone images auto sync via my cel or wifi connection within a few minutes of taking them.
I save images on my eye-fi cards in RAW and jpeg from the fuji or Canon cameras.
Those auto sync when I have the camera turned on and am on a connection to the internet.
It's all neatly organized by date. I could not do it better myself.

a screenbrab of the iOs flickr app.

Appears to be working.

Using a 13" MAC Air laptop.

Open Safari Browser
Open FlickR
Sign in
Click on image from photo stream
Click on Download arrow, view all sizes
In this case chose the medium (800 by 560)
With mouse arrow over the image, perform a 'Control' with single mouse click, then choose 'Copy Image address' from drop down menu.
Choose insert image icon, then copy 'Control V' address in box and depress return key.
Address appears in the space between the [IMG] ..... [/IMG] boxes.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/492/1...143fd75a_c.jpg

FlickR has been constantly changing for the last few years, it would be great if it was more stable/consistent. But for the price it works just fine.

Yes, back in business with Safari:

Now to test whether they've fixed it for Safari on the iPad...
