Crivens! 42!? I went ahead and put in my order with MOO (The MOREWITH15OFF code worked nicely) last week for a solid 50, since I am about to hit the road for almost a month and thinking it was a safe estimate based on #10. For #12 I may have to go for 75 then if I want to have plenty of spares, it really is amazing how popular and how much fun these projects are!

Minor teaser, this time you will not be able to peek on my homepage and see what you will be getting in the post. The photo comes straight from the archives and is yet to be seen by anyone other than me.

Good stuff. I printed yesterday and posted today to EU, Canada and Australia addresses. Now for the US ones, which is the main bulk of course. I am scribbling a small message on the back so it takes a bit longer. In a couple of days I should have everything through the post.

Just got out of the darkroom, postcard prints in the wash! It'll be a while yet. Ilford Warmtone FB, some glossy, some semi- matt.

Let‘s hope, there are no more errors in the address list... As I wrote, the final address list comes end of this week...

Oops, I missed that. I will delay sending the rest until the confirmed address list is emailed. And if there's any mistake in the address of any of the cards I've already sent, I'll just send again.

Is somebody doing an Avery label version of the list again? Or did I miss it?

Got the Avery label list from Keith -- thanks!

I mailed mine out today, printed on my dye-sub DNP DS40 printer. I welcome feedback on the look...

You're not alone...

Oh! Just checked the first post ... deadline is actually May 20, not April 20. I'll get mine sent by then.

Stephan: Have there been additions to the address list since the one you sent on April 21? Sorry, I've been busy and not watching the thread traffic very closely.

Yes, people... Relax... I always plan this with very long deadlines, so we all have enough time to make it. Also there is no reason to ship postcards, before the list is complete and checked. Because:

There was one person who wrote me, but at the time already two people had already shipped their postcards. I asked him to ask here in the thread, if people are okay to have one more in the list after the deadline. But since then, I didn't hear anything from him, so I guess not. I will send the final list, which is identical to the draft again in a few minutes after this post.

Again: R-E-L-A-X - this is no race... the plan was to send all the cards until May, 20th.

Was a slow weekend so i could hand-print all forty-two cards in the darkroom...
They are dry now, tonight will start addressing.
I am thinking of ordering matching stamps, or at least something 'dutch' themed even tho the card image is from my 'previous life'

Krötenblender- Was it jpressman who ran late? I think i've seen a mail or two from him

We seem to have some RFF members who are ultra-efficient in mailing out their cards!

Raid, It just corresponded well with free time to do darkroom work & i happened to have 5"x7" FB WT paper, so i didn't have to order it from B&H & wait for shipping. Entirely coincidence rather than efficiency.

RFF Postcard Project #11

Has anyone in Canada used Vistaprint for postcards?
$15CAD for 50 5x7 premium glossy cards seems reasonable.
https://www.vistaprint.ca/marketing-...71713492&GNF=0
Any recommendations for other print services?
I am in the Vancouver area.

Thanks.

Maigo, I’ve ordered my post cards from Vistaprint. The price seemed good to me but the cards have yet to arrive, so I’m hoping for a good result. Now, Canada Post, on the other hand, sure is expensive. I had no idea. I guess I’ve lost touch with real mail. But I’m having so much fun I think I may even sit down and write a long letter to all my good friends, as the song goes, provided I can afford the stamps.

I received the first postcard from Project #11 today too. Very nice photo!

However, this one arrived in an envelope. No disparagement intended, but a photo with a label on it in an envelope isn't a "postcard". Part of what makes a postcard special is the cancelled stamp and date on that cancellation ... on the card itself ... to me. Otherwise, it's just a print (with provenance) in an envelope.

The damage that might be there as well is also part of the charm. I have a whole library of postcards that were sent to me from all over the world over the past five decades. Many of them might be considered "ruined" with the amount of handling damage they've suffered, but I love looking through the album I've made of them. In my mind's eye, I see all those people and all those travels as if they had just arrived.

Please send postcards, folks. I'm not expecting perfect prints, I'm expecting postcards that have been handled by the mail system.

I have been mailing postcards within the USA, while placing postcards in envelopes for mail to other countries. Was that wrong to do?

Raid, We ship all kinds of fragile things around the world..lenses...cameras
I share Godfrey's opinion; that the charm of a postcard is that it has been handled, has a cancelled stamp on it....& perhaps a few bent corners, but it has survived the voyage and maybe a few people have glanced at the photo....otherwise, a perfect postcard...just looks like one on a rack in a shop....

With the way work is stacking up, it looks like I will not be able to get into the darkroom until a couple of days after the May 20 deadline. Apologies in advance! I'll have the cards out by the end of May for sure. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing the others! One arrived in an envelope with no identifying information... who could it be from?

I just placed an order on MOO.com. Conveniently, they're having a 35% off sale on postcards right now. The sale ends tomorrow (04/30) and I'm not sure if the sale is available for non-US customers. However, the MOREWITH15OFF code that ninjin posted (Post #82) also worked for me!

Instead of using an Avery label, I'm going to try to hand address each postcard using a fountain pen.

Just ordered mine today from my local printer. He's incredibly busy but gave me an ETA of Thursday, so I hope to mail them out by the end of the week.

Some of you folks are such eager beavers!

I'm hoping to have mine out by the weekend before the May 20 deadline, if not on May 20. Last year I was early because I was leaving on a six week trip right after the sign up period ended, but this year my next four weeks are packed full of already booked events and goings on. I'm still picking what photo I want to feature on the card...!

At least I've got the mailing list semi-organized today.

I've spent last evening a few hours hand addressing the cards. Didn't realize how long it will take for 40+ cards. Also, had to find a soft tip pen in the house that doesn't imprint on the card front, and that does dry properly on the back of the ilford card stock.
but it's done.
Today i'll glue the stamps and tomorrow off they go.

Rolfe,

I got your post card today and it is quite nice. The dye-sub printer did a great job.
